| ܝܥܩܘܒ ܥܒܕܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܕܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܠܬܪܬܥܣܪܐ ܫܪܒܢ ܕܙܪܝܥܢ ܒܥܡܡܐ ܫܠܡ | Ἰάκωβος Θεοῦ καὶ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ δοῦλος ταῖς δώδεκα φυλαῖς ταῖς ἐν τῇ Διασπορᾷ χαίρειν. | 1 | James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. | يَعْقُوبُ، عَبْدُ ٱللهِ وَٱلرَّبِّ يَسُوعَ ٱلْمَسِيحِ، يُهْدِي ٱلسَّلَامَ إِلَى ٱلِٱثْنَيْ عَشَرَ سِبْطًا ٱلَّذِينَ فِي ٱلشَّتَاتِ. | |
| ܟܠ ܚܕܘܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܟܕ ܬܥܠܘܢ ܠܢܣܝܘܢܐ ܡܫܚܠܦܐ ܘܣܓܝܐܐ | Πᾶσαν χαρὰν ἡγήσασθε, ἀδελφοί μου, ὅταν πειρασμοῖς περιπέσητε ποικίλοις, | 2 | My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; {temptations: or, trials} | اِحْسِبُوهُ كُلَّ فَرَحٍ يَا إِخْوَتِي حِينَمَا تَقَعُونَ فِي تَجَارِبَ مُتَنَوِّعَةٍ، | |
| ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܒܘܩܝܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܡܩܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܣܝܒܪܢܘܬܐ | γινώσκοντες ὅτι τὸ δοκίμιον ὑμῶν τῆς πίστεως κατεργάζεται ὑπομονήν. | 3 | Knowing {this}, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. | عَالِمِينَ أَنَّ ٱمْتِحَانَ إِيمَانِكُمْ يُنْشِئُ صَبْرًا. | |
| ܠܗ ܕܝܢ ܠܡܣܝܒܪܢܘܬܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܥܒܕܐ ܡܫܡܠܝܐ ܕܬܗܘܘܢ ܓܡܝܪܝܢ ܘܡܫܠܡܢܝܢ ܘܒܡܕܡ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܚܣܝܪܝܢ | ἡ δὲ ὑπομονὴ ἔργον τέλειον ἐχέτω, ἵνα ἦτε τέλειοι καὶ ὁλόκληροι, ἐν μηδενὶ λειπόμενοι. | 4 | But let patience have {her} perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. | وَأَمَّا ٱلصَّبْرُ فَلْيَكُنْ لَهُ عَمَلٌ تَامٌّ، لِكَيْ تَكُونُوا تَامِّينَ وَكَامِلِينَ غَيْرَ نَاقِصِينَ فِي شَيْءٍ. | |
| ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܚܣܝܪ ܡܢ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܢܫܐܠ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܝܗܒ ܠܟܠ ܦܫܝܛܐܝܬ ܘܠܐ ܡܚܣܕ ܘܡܬܝܗܒܐ ܠܗ | Εἰ δέ τις ὑμῶν λείπεται σοφίας, αἰτείτω παρὰ τοῦ διδόντος Θεοῦ πᾶσιν ἁπλῶς καὶ μὴ ὀνειδίζοντος, καὶ δοθήσεται αὐτῷ. | 5 | If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all {men} liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. | وَإِنَّمَا إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ تُعْوِزُهُ حِكْمَةٌ، فَلْيَطْلُبْ مِنَ ٱللهِ ٱلَّذِي يُعْطِي ٱلْجَمِيعَ بِسَخَاءٍ وَلَا يُعَيِّرُ، فَسَيُعْطَى لَهُ. | |
| ܢܫܐܠ ܕܝܢ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܟܕ ܠܐ ܡܬܦܠܓ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܕܡܬܦܠܓ ܕܡܐ ܠܓܠܠܐ ܕܝܡܐ ܕܫܓܫܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܪܘܚܐ | αἰτείτω δὲ ἐν πίστει, μηδὲν διακρινόμενος· ὁ γὰρ διακρινόμενος ἔοικεν κλύδωνι θαλάσσης ἀνεμιζομένῳ καὶ ῥιπιζομένῳ. | 6 | But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. | وَلَكِنْ لِيَطْلُبْ بِإِيمَانٍ غَيْرَ مُرْتَابٍ ٱلْبَتَّةَ، لِأَنَّ ٱلْمُرْتَابَ يُشْبِهُ مَوْجًا مِنَ ٱلْبَحْرِ تَخْبِطُهُ ٱلرِّيحُ وَتَدْفَعُهُ. | |
| ܘܠܐ ܢܣܒܪ ܗܘ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܢܣܒ ܡܕܡ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ | μὴ γὰρ οἰέσθω ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος ὅτι λήμψεταί τι παρὰ τοῦ Κυρίου, | 7 | For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. | فَلَا يَظُنَّ ذَلِكَ ٱلْإِنْسَانُ أَنَّهُ يَنَالُ شَيْئًا مِنْ عِنْدِ ٱلرَّبِّ. | |
| ܐܝܢܐ ܕܦܠܝܓ ܒܪܥܝܢܗ ܘܫܓܝܫ ܒܟܠܗܝܢ ܐܘܪܚܬܗ | ἀνὴρ δίψυχος, ἀκατάστατος ἐν πάσαις ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτοῦ. | 8 | A double minded man {is} unstable in all his ways. | رَجُلٌ ذُو رَأْيَيْنِ هُوَ مُتَقَلْقِلٌ فِي جَمِيعِ طُرُقِهِ. | |
| ܢܫܬܒܗܪ ܕܝܢ ܐܚܐ ܡܟܝܟܐ ܒܪܘܡܪܡܗ | Καυχάσθω δὲ ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὁ ταπεινὸς ἐν τῷ ὕψει αὐτοῦ, | 9 | Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: {rejoice: or, glory} | وَلْيَفْتَخِرِ ٱلْأَخُ ٱلْمُتَّضِعُ بِٱرْتِفَاعِهِ، | |
| ܘܥܬܝܪܐ ܒܡܘܟܟܗ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܝܟ ܗܒܒܐ ܕܥܣܒܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܥܒܪ | ὁ δὲ πλούσιος ἐν τῇ ταπεινώσει αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ὡς ἄνθος χόρτου παρελεύσεται. | 10 | But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. | وَأَمَّا ٱلْغَنِيُّ فَبِٱتِّضَاعِهِ، لِأَنَّهُ كَزَهْرِ ٱلْعُشْبِ يَزُولُ. | |
| ܕܢܚ ܓܝܪ ܫܡܫܐ ܒܚܘܡܗ ܘܡܘܒܫ ܠܗ ܠܥܣܒܐ ܘܗܒܒܗ ܢܦܠ ܘܫܘܦܪܐ ܕܚܙܘܗ ܐܒܕ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܚܡܐ ܒܗܘܦܟܘܗܝ | ἀνέτειλεν γὰρ ὁ ἥλιος σὺν τῷ καύσωνι καὶ ἐξήρανεν τὸν χόρτον, καὶ τὸ ἄνθος αὐτοῦ ἐξέπεσεν καὶ ἡ εὐπρέπεια τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ ἀπώλετο· οὕτως καὶ ὁ πλούσιος ἐν ταῖς πορείαις αὐτοῦ μαρανθήσεται. | 11 | For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. | لِأَنَّ ٱلشَّمْسَ أَشْرَقَتْ بِٱلْحَرِّ، فَيَبَّسَتِ ٱلْعُشْبَ، فَسَقَطَ زَهْرُهُ وَفَنِيَ جَمَالُ مَنْظَرِهِ. هَكَذَا يَذْبُلُ ٱلْغَنِيُّ أَيْضًا فِي طُرُقِهِ. | |
| ܛܘܒܘܗܝ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܕܡܣܝܒܪ ܢܣܝܘܢܐ ܕܡܐ ܕܐܬܒܚܪ ܢܣܒ ܟܠܝܠܐ ܕܚܝܐ ܗܘ ܕܡܠܟ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܪܚܡܝܢ ܠܗ | Μακάριος ἀνὴρ ὃς ὑπομένει πειρασμόν, ὅτι δόκιμος γενόμενος λήμψεται τὸν στέφανον τῆς ζωῆς, ὃν ἐπηγγείλατο τοῖς ἀγαπῶσιν αὐτόν. | 12 | Blessed {is} the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. | طُوبَى لِلرَّجُلِ ٱلَّذِي يَحْتَمِلُ ٱلتَّجْرِبَةَ، لِأَنَّهُ إِذَا تَزَكَّى يَنَالُ «إِكْلِيلَ ٱلْحَيَاةِ» ٱلَّذِي وَعَدَ بِهِ ٱلرَّبُّ لِلَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَهُ. | |
| ܠܐ ܢܐܡܪ ܐܢܫ ܟܕ ܡܬܢܣܐ ܕܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܬܢܣܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܐ ܡܢܣܝ ܒܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܗܘ ܠܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܡܢܣܐ | Μηδεὶς πειραζόμενος λεγέτω ὅτι Ἀπὸ Θεοῦ πειράζομαι· ὁ γὰρ Θεὸς ἀπείραστός ἐστιν κακῶν, πειράζει δὲ αὐτὸς οὐδένα. | 13 | Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: {evil: or, evils} | لَا يَقُلْ أَحَدٌ إِذَا جُرِّبَ: «إِنِّي أُجَرَّبُ مِنْ قِبَلِ ٱللهِ»، لِأَنَّ ٱللهَ غَيْرُ مُجَرَّبٍ بِٱلشُّرُورِ، وَهُوَلَا يُجَرِّبُ أَحَدًا. | |
| ܐܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܡܢ ܪܓܬܗ ܗܘ ܡܬܢܣܐ ܘܡܬܪܓܪܓ ܘܡܬܢܓܕ | ἕκαστος δὲ πειράζεται ὑπὸ τῆς ἰδίας ἐπιθυμίας ἐξελκόμενος καὶ δελεαζόμενος· | 14 | But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. | وَلَكِنَّ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ يُجَرَّبُ إِذَا ٱنْجَذَبَ وَٱنْخَدَعَ مِنْ شَهْوَتِهِ. | |
| ܘܗܕܐ ܪܓܬܐ ܒܛܢܐ ܘܝܠܕܐ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܐ ܕܐܬܓܡܪܬ ܝܠܕܐ ܡܘܬܐ | εἶτα ἡ ἐπιθυμία συλλαβοῦσα τίκτει ἁμαρτίαν, ἡ δὲ ἁμαρτία ἀποτελεσθεῖσα ἀποκύει θάνατον. | 15 | Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. | ثُمَّ ٱلشَّهْوَةُ إِذَا حَبِلَتْ تَلِدُ خَطِيَّةً، وَٱلْخَطِيَّةُ إِذَا كَمَلَتْ تُنْتِجُ مَوْتًا. | |
| ܠܐ ܬܛܥܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܚܒܝܒܐ | Μὴ πλανᾶσθε, ἀδελφοί μου ἀγαπητοί. | 16 | Do not err, my beloved brethren. | لَا تَضِلُّوا يَا إِخْوَتِي ٱلْأَحِبَّاءَ. | |
| ܟܠ ܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܘܡܫܡܠܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܠܥܠ ܢܚܬܐ ܡܢ ܐܒܐ ܕܢܗܝܪܐ ܗܘ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܘܬܗ ܫܘܚܠܦܐ ܡܕܡ ܐܦܠܐ ܛܠܢܝܬܐ ܕܫܘܓܢܝܐ | πᾶσα δόσις ἀγαθὴ καὶ πᾶν δώρημα τέλειον ἄνωθέν ἐστιν καταβαῖνον ἀπὸ τοῦ Πατρὸς τῶν φώτων, παρ’ ᾧ οὐκ ἔνι παραλλαγὴ ἢ τροπῆς ἀποσκίασμα. | 17 | Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. | كُلُّ عَطِيَّةٍ صَالِحَةٍ وَكُلُّ مَوْهِبَةٍ تَامَّةٍ هِيَ مِنْ فَوْقُ، نَازِلَةٌ مِنْ عِنْدِ أَبِي ٱلْأَنْوَارِ، ٱلَّذِي لَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ تَغْيِيرٌ وَلَا ظِلُّ دَوَرَانٍ. | |
| ܗܘܝܘ ܨܒܐ ܘܝܠܕܢ ܒܡܠܬܐ ܕܩܘܫܬܐ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܪܫܝܬܐ ܕܒܪܝܬܗ | βουληθεὶς ἀπεκύησεν ἡμᾶς λόγῳ ἀληθείας, εἰς τὸ εἶναι ἡμᾶς ἀπαρχήν τινα τῶν αὐτοῦ κτισμάτων. | 18 | Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. | شَاءَ فَوَلَدَنَا بِكَلِمَةِ ٱلْحَقِّ لِكَيْ نَكُونَ بَاكُورَةً مِنْ خَلَائِقِهِ. | |
| ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܚܒܝܒܐ ܟܠܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܡܣܪܗܒ ܠܡܫܡܥ ܘܡܘܚܪ ܠܡܡܠܠܘ ܘܡܘܚܪ ܠܡܪܓܙ | Ἴστε, ἀδελφοί μου ἀγαπητοί. ἔστω δὲ πᾶς ἄνθρωπος ταχὺς εἰς τὸ ἀκοῦσαι, βραδὺς εἰς τὸ λαλῆσαι, βραδὺς εἰς ὀργήν· | 19 | Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: | إِذًا يَا إِخْوَتِي ٱلْأَحِبَّاءَ، لِيَكُنْ كُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ مُسْرِعًا فِي ٱلِٱسْتِمَاعِ، مُبْطِئًا فِي ٱلتَّكَلُّمِ، مُبْطِئًا فِي ٱلْغَضَبِ، | |
| ܪܘܓܙܗ ܓܝܪ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܥܒܕ | ὀργὴ γὰρ ἀνδρὸς δικαιοσύνην Θεοῦ οὐκ ἐργάζεται. | 20 | For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. | لِأَنَّ غَضَبَ ٱلْإِنْسَانِ لَا يَصْنَعُ بِرَّ ٱللهِ. | |
| ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܪܚܩܘ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܟܠܗ ܛܢܦܘܬܐ ܘܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܒܝܫܘܬܐ ܘܒܡܟܝܟܘܬܐ ܩܒܠܘ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܢܨܝܒܐ ܒܟܝܢܢ ܕܗܝ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܕܬܚܐ ܐܢܝܢ ܢܦܫܬܟܘܢ | διὸ ἀποθέμενοι πᾶσαν ῥυπαρίαν καὶ περισσείαν κακίας ἐν πραΰτητι δέξασθε τὸν ἔμφυτον λόγον τὸν δυνάμενον σῶσαι τὰς ψυχὰς ὑμῶν. | 21 | Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. | لِذَلِكَ ٱطْرَحُوا كُلَّ نَجَاسَةٍ وَكَثْرَةَ شَرٍّ، فَٱقْبَلُوا بِوَدَاعَةٍ ٱلْكَلِمَةَ ٱلْمَغْرُوسَةَ ٱلْقَادِرَةَ أَنْ تُخَلِّصَ نُفُوسَكُمْ. | |
| ܗܘܘ ܕܝܢ ܥܒܘܕܐ ܕܡܠܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܘܥܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܘܠܐ ܬܛܥܘܢ ܢܦܫܬܟܘܢ | γίνεσθε δὲ ποιηταὶ λόγου, καὶ μὴ ἀκροαταὶ μόνον παραλογιζόμενοι ἑαυτούς. | 22 | But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. | وَلَكِنْ كُونُوا عَامِلِينَ بِٱلْكَلِمَةِ، لَا سَامِعِينَ فَقَطْ خَادِعِينَ نُفُوسَكُمْ. | |
| ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܓܝܪ ܢܗܘܐ ܫܡܘܥܗ ܕܡܠܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܥܒܘܕܗ ܗܢܐ ܕܡܐ ܠܗܘ ܕܚܙܐ ܐܦܘܗܝ ܒܡܚܙܝܬܐ | ὅτι εἴ τις ἀκροατὴς λόγου ἐστὶν καὶ οὐ ποιητής, οὗτος ἔοικεν ἀνδρὶ κατανοοῦντι τὸ πρόσωπον τῆς γενέσεως αὐτοῦ ἐν ἐσόπτρῳ· | 23 | For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: | لِأَنَّهُ إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ سَامِعًا لِلْكَلِمَةِ وَلَيْسَ عَامِلًا، فَذَاكَ يُشْبِهُ رَجُلًا نَاظِرًا وَجْهَ خِلْقَتِهِ فِي مِرْآةٍ، | |
| ܚܙܐ ܓܝܪ ܢܦܫܗ ܘܥܒܪ ܘܛܥܐ ܕܐܝܟܢܐ ܗܘܐ | κατενόησεν γὰρ ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἀπελήλυθεν, καὶ εὐθέως ἐπελάθετο ὁποῖος ἦν. | 24 | For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. | فَإِنَّهُ نَظَرَ ذَاتَهُ وَمَضَى، وَلِلْوَقْتِ نَسِيَ مَا هُوَ. | |
| ܟܠ ܕܝܢ ܕܚܪ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܡܫܠܡܢܐ ܕܚܐܪܘܬܐ ܘܩܘܝ ܒܗ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܫܡܘܥܐ ܕܫܡܥܐ ܕܡܬܛܥܐ ܐܠܐ ܥܒܘܕܐ ܕܥܒܕܐ ܘܗܢܐ ܛܘܒܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܥܒܕܗ | ὁ δὲ παρακύψας εἰς νόμον τέλειον τὸν τῆς ἐλευθερίας καὶ παραμείνας, οὐκ ἀκροατὴς ἐπιλησμονῆς γενόμενος ἀλλὰ ποιητὴς ἔργου, οὗτος μακάριος ἐν τῇ ποιήσει αὐτοῦ ἔσται. | 25 | But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth {therein}, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. {deed: or, doing} | وَلَكِنْ مَنِ ٱطَّلَعَ عَلَى ٱلنَّامُوسِ ٱلْكَامِلِ \- نَامُوسِ ٱلْحُرِّيَّةِ \- وَثَبَتَ، وَصَارَ لَيْسَ سَامِعًا نَاسِيًا بَلْ عَامِلًا بِٱلْكَلِمَةِ، فَهَذَا يَكُونُ مَغْبُوطًا فِي عَمَلِهِ. | |
| ܘܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܣܒܪ ܕܡܫܡܫ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܚܕ ܠܫܢܗ ܐܠܐ ܡܛܥܐ ܠܗ ܠܒܗ ܕܗܢܐ ܣܪܝܩܐ ܗܝ ܬܫܡܫܬܗ | Εἴ τις δοκεῖ θρησκὸς εἶναι, μὴ χαλιναγωγῶν γλῶσσαν ἑαυτοῦ ἀλλὰ ἀπατῶν καρδίαν ἑαυτοῦ, τούτου μάταιος ἡ θρησκεία. | 26 | If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion {is} vain. | إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ فِيكُمْ يَظُنُّ أَنَّهُ دَيِّنٌ، وَهُوَ لَيْسَ يُلْجِمُ لِسَانَهُ، بَلْ يَخْدَعُ قَلْبَهُ، فَدِيَانَةُ هَذَا بَاطِلَةٌ. | |
| ܬܫܡܫܬܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܟܝܬܐ ܘܩܕܝܫܬܐ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܒܐ ܗܕܐ ܗܝ ܠܡܣܥܪ ܝܬܡܐ ܘܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܒܐܘܠܨܢܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܡܛܪ ܐܢܫ ܢܦܫܗ ܡܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܛܘܠܫܐ | θρησκεία καθαρὰ καὶ ἀμίαντος παρὰ τῷ Θεῷ καὶ Πατρὶ αὕτη ἐστίν, ἐπισκέπτεσθαι ὀρφανοὺς καὶ χήρας ἐν τῇ θλίψει αὐτῶν, ἄσπιλον ἑαυτὸν τηρεῖν ἀπὸ τοῦ κόσμου. | 27 | Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, {and} to keep himself unspotted from the world. | اَلدِّيَانَةُ ٱلطَّاهِرَةُ ٱلنَّقِيَّةُ عِنْدَ ٱللهِ ٱلْآبِ هِيَ هَذِهِ: ٱفْتِقَادُ ٱلْيَتَامَى وَٱلْأَرَامِلِ فِي ضِيقَتِهِمْ، وَحِفْظُ ٱلْإِنْسَانِ نَفْسَهُ بِلَا دَنَسٍ مِنَ ٱلْعَالَمِ. |

| ܐܚܝ ܠܐ ܒܡܣܒ ܒܐܦܐ ܬܗܘܘܢ ܐܚܝܕܝܢ ܠܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܬܫܒܘܚܬܗ ܕܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ | Ἀδελφοί μου, μὴ ἐν προσωπολημψίαις ἔχετε τὴν πίστιν τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ τῆς δόξης. | 1 | My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, {the Lord} of glory, with respect of persons. | يَا إِخْوَتِي، لَا يَكُنْ لَكُمْ إِيمَانُ رَبِّنَا يَسُوعَ ٱلْمَسِيحِ، رَبِّ ٱلْمَجْدِ، فِي ٱلْمُحَابَاةِ. | |
| ܐܢ ܓܝܪ ܢܥܘܠ ܠܟܢܘܫܬܟܘܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܥܙܩܬܗ ܕܕܗܒܐ ܐܘ ܕܡܐܢܘܗܝ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܘܢܥܘܠ ܡܣܟܢܐ ܒܡܐܢܐ ܨܐܐ | ἐὰν γὰρ εἰσέλθῃ εἰς συναγωγὴν ὑμῶν ἀνὴρ χρυσοδακτύλιος ἐν ἐσθῆτι λαμπρᾷ, εἰσέλθῃ δὲ καὶ πτωχὸς ἐν ῥυπαρᾷ ἐσθῆτι, | 2 | For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; {assembly: Gr. synagogue} | فَإِنَّهُ إِنْ دَخَلَ إِلَى مَجْمَعِكُمْ رَجُلٌ بِخَوَاتِمِ ذَهَبٍ فِي لِبَاسٍ بَهِيٍّ، وَدَخَلَ أَيْضًا فَقِيرٌ بِلِبَاسٍ وَسِخٍ، | |
| ܘܬܚܘܪܘܢ ܒܗܘ ܕܠܒܝܫ ܡܐܢܐ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܘܬܐܡܪܘܢ ܠܗ ܐܢܬ ܗܪܟܐ ܬܒ ܫܦܝܪ ܘܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܬܐܡܪܘܢ ܠܗ ܐܢܬ ܩܘܡ ܠܗܠ ܐܘ ܬܒ ܠܟ ܗܪܟܐ ܩܕܡ ܟܘܒܫܐ ܕܪܓܠܝܢ | ἐπιβλέψητε δὲ ἐπὶ τὸν φοροῦντα τὴν ἐσθῆτα τὴν λαμπρὰν καὶ εἴπητε Σὺ κάθου ὧδε καλῶς, καὶ τῷ πτωχῷ εἴπητε Σὺ στῆθι ἐκεῖ ἢ κάθου ὑπὸ τὸ ὑποπόδιόν μου, | 3 | And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: {in...: or, well, or, seemly} | فَنَظَرْتُمْ إِلَى ٱللَّابِسِ ٱللِّبَاسَ ٱلْبَهِيَّ وَقُلْتُمْ لَهُ: «ٱجْلِسْ أَنْتَ هُنَا حَسَنًا». وَقُلْتُمْ لِلْفَقِيرِ: «قِفْ أَنْتَ هُنَاكَ» أَوِ: «ٱجْلِسْ هُنَا تَحْتَ مَوْطِىءِ قَدَمَيَّ». | |
| ܠܐ ܗܐ ܐܬܦܠܓܬܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܢܦܫܟܘܢ ܘܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܡܦܪܫܢܐ ܕܡܚܫܒܬܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ | οὐ διεκρίθητε ἐν ἑαυτοῖς καὶ ἐγένεσθε κριταὶ διαλογισμῶν πονηρῶν; | 4 | Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? | فَهَلْ لَا تَرْتَابُونَ فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ، وَتَصِيرُونَ قُضَاةَ أَفْكَارٍ شِرِّيرَةٍ؟ | |
| ܫܡܥܘ ܐܚܝ ܚܒܝܒܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܓܒܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܢܗܘܘܢ ܝܪܬܐ ܒܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܗܝ ܕܡܠܟ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܪܚܡܝܢ ܠܗ | Ἀκούσατε, ἀδελφοί μου ἀγαπητοί. οὐχ ὁ Θεὸς ἐξελέξατο τοὺς πτωχοὺς τῷ κόσμῳ πλουσίους ἐν πίστει καὶ κληρονόμους τῆς βασιλείας ἧς ἐπηγγείλατο τοῖς ἀγαπῶσιν αὐτόν; | 5 | Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? {of the: or, of that} | ٱسْمَعُوا يَا إِخْوَتِي ٱلْأَحِبَّاءَ: أَمَا ٱخْتَارَ ٱللهُ فُقَرَاءَ هَذَا ٱلْعَالَمِ أَغْنِيَاءَ فِي ٱلْإِيمَانِ، وَوَرَثَةَ ٱلْمَلَكُوتِ ٱلَّذِي وَعَدَ بِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَهُ؟ | |
| ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܫܛܬܘܢܝܗܝ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܠܐ ܗܐ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܡܫܬܥܠܝܢ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܘܗܢܘܢ ܢܓܕܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܠܒܝܬ ܕܝܢܐ | ὑμεῖς δὲ ἠτιμάσατε τὸν πτωχόν. οὐχ οἱ πλούσιοι καταδυναστεύουσιν ὑμῶν, καὶ αὐτοὶ ἕλκουσιν ὑμᾶς εἰς κριτήρια; | 6 | But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? | وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَأَهَنْتُمُ ٱلْفَقِيرَ. أَلَيْسَ ٱلْأَغْنِيَاءُ يَتَسَلَّطُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَهُمْ يَجُرُّونَكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْمَحَاكِمِ؟ | |
| ܠܐ ܗܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܡܓܕܦܝܢ ܥܠ ܫܡܐ ܛܒܐ ܕܐܬܩܪܝ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ | οὐκ αὐτοὶ βλασφημοῦσιν τὸ καλὸν ὄνομα τὸ ἐπικληθὲν ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς; | 7 | Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? {blaspheme: or, revile, or, slander} | أَمَا هُمْ يُجَدِّفُونَ عَلَى ٱلِٱسْمِ ٱلْحَسَنِ ٱلَّذِي دُعِيَ بِهِ عَلَيْكُمْ؟ | |
| ܘܐܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܒܗܕܐ ܡܫܠܡܝܬܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܟܬܝܒ ܕܬܪܚܡ ܠܩܪܝܒܟ ܐܝܟ ܢܦܫܟ ܫܦܝܪ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ | εἰ μέντοι νόμον τελεῖτε βασιλικὸν κατὰ τὴν γραφήν Ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου ὡς σεαυτόν, καλῶς ποιεῖτε· | 8 | If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: | فَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُكَمِّلُونَ ٱلنَّامُوسَ ٱلْمُلُوكِيَّ حَسَبَ ٱلْكِتَابِ: «تُحِبُّ قَرِيبَكَ كَنَفْسِكَ»، فَحَسَنًا تَفْعَلُونَ. | |
| ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܒܐܦܐ ܢܣܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܡܬܟܘܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܐܝܟ ܥܒܪܝ ܥܠ ܢܡܘܣܐ | εἰ δὲ προσωπολημπτεῖτε, ἁμαρτίαν ἐργάζεσθε, ἐλεγχόμενοι ὑπὸ τοῦ νόμου ὡς παραβάται. | 9 | But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. | وَلَكِنْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحَابُونَ، تَفْعَلُونَ خَطِيَّةً، مُوَبَّخِينَ مِنَ ٱلنَّامُوسِ كَمُتَعَدِّينَ. | |
| ܐܝܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܟܠܗ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܢܛܪ ܘܒܚܕܐ ܫܪܥ ܠܟܠܗ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܐܬܚܝܒ | ὅστις γὰρ ὅλον τὸν νόμον τηρήσῃ, πταίσῃ δὲ ἐν ἑνί, γέγονεν πάντων ἔνοχος. | 10 | For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one {point}, he is guilty of all. | لِأَنَّ مَنْ حَفِظَ كُلَّ ٱلنَّامُوسِ، وَإِنَّمَا عَثَرَ فِي وَاحِدَةٍ، فَقَدْ صَارَ مُجْرِمًا فِي ٱلْكُلِّ. | |
| ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܠܐ ܬܓܘܪ ܗܘ ܐܡܪ ܕܠܐ ܬܩܛܘܠ ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܓܐܪ ܐܢܬ ܐܠܐ ܩܛܠ ܐܢܬ ܗܘܝܬ ܠܟ ܥܒܪ ܥܠ ܢܡܘܣܐ | ὁ γὰρ εἰπών Μὴ μοιχεύσῃς, εἶπεν καί Μὴ φονεύσῃς· εἰ δὲ οὐ μοιχεύεις, φονεύεις δέ, γέγονας παραβάτης νόμου. | 11 | For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. {he that: or, that law which} | لِأَنَّ ٱلَّذِي قَالَ: «لَا تَزْنِ»، قَالَ أَيْضًا: «لَا تَقْتُلْ». فَإِنْ لَمْ تَزْنِ وَلَكِنْ قَتَلْتَ، فَقَدْ صِرْتَ مُتَعَدِّيًا ٱلنَّامُوسَ. | |
| ܗܟܢܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܘܗܟܢܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܣܥܪܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܚܐܪܘܬܐ ܥܬܝܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܬܕܢܘ | οὕτως λαλεῖτε καὶ οὕτως ποιεῖτε ὡς διὰ νόμου ἐλευθερίας μέλλοντες κρίνεσθαι. | 12 | So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. | هَكَذَا تَكَلَّمُوا وَهَكَذَا ٱفْعَلُوا كَعَتِيدِينَ أَنْ تُحَاكَمُوا بِنَامُوسِ ٱلْحُرِّيَّةِ. | |
| ܕܝܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܗܘܐ ܕܠܐ ܪܚܡܐ ܥܠ ܗܘ ܕܠܐ ܥܒܕ ܪܚܡܐ ܡܫܬܥܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܪܚܡܐ ܥܠ ܕܝܢܐ | ἡ γὰρ κρίσις ἀνέλεος τῷ μὴ ποιήσαντι ἔλεος· κατακαυχᾶται ἔλεος κρίσεως. | 13 | For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. {rejoiceth: or, glorieth} | لِأَنَّ ٱلْحُكْمَ هُوَ بِلَا رَحْمَةٍ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَعْمَلْ رَحْمَةً، وَٱلرَّحْمَةُ تَفْتَخِرُ عَلَى ٱلْحُكْمِ. | |
| ܡܢܐ ܗܢܝܢܐ ܐܚܝ ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܐܡܪ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܝ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܥܒܕܐ ܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܕܠܡܐ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܗ ܕܬܚܝܘܗܝ | Τί τὸ ὄφελος, ἀδελφοί μου, ἐὰν πίστιν λέγῃ τις ἔχειν ἔργα δὲ μὴ ἔχῃ; μὴ δύναται ἡ πίστις σῶσαι αὐτόν; | 14 | What {doth it} profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? | مَا ٱلْمَنْفَعَةُ يَا إِخْوَتِي إِنْ قَالَ أَحَدٌ إِنَّ لَهُ إِيمَانًا وَلَكِنْ لَيْسَ لَهُ أَعْمَالٌ، هَلْ يَقْدِرُ ٱلْإِيمَانُ أَنْ يُخَلِّصَهُ؟ | |
| ܘܐܢ ܐܚܐ ܐܘ ܚܬܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܥܪܛܠܝܝܢ ܘܚܣܝܪܝܢ ܣܝܒܪܬܐ ܕܝܘܡܐ | ἐὰν ἀδελφὸς ἢ ἀδελφὴ γυμνοὶ ὑπάρχωσιν καὶ λειπόμενοι τῆς ἐφημέρου τροφῆς, | 15 | If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, | إِنْ كَانَ أَخٌ وَأُخْتٌ عُرْيَانَيْنِ وَمُعْتَازَيْنِ لِلْقُوتِ ٱلْيَوْمِيِّ، | |
| ܘܢܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܙܠܘ ܒܫܠܡܐ ܫܚܢܘ ܘܣܒܥܘ ܘܠܐ ܬܬܠܘܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܣܢܝܩܘܬܗ ܕܦܓܪܐ ܡܢܐ ܗܢܝܢܐ | εἴπῃ δέ τις αὐτοῖς ἐξ ὑμῶν Ὑπάγετε ἐν εἰρήνῃ, θερμαίνεσθε καὶ χορτάζεσθε, μὴ δῶτε δὲ αὐτοῖς τὰ ἐπιτήδεια τοῦ σώματος, τί τὸ ὄφελος; | 16 | And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be {ye} warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what {doth it} profit? | فَقَالَ لَهُمَا أَحَدُكُمُ: «ٱمْضِيَا بِسَلَامٍ، ٱسْتَدْفِئَا وَٱشْبَعَا»، وَلَكِنْ لَمْ تُعْطُوهُمَا حَاجَاتِ ٱلْجَسَدِ، فَمَا ٱلْمَنْفَعَةُ؟ | |
| ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܗܝ ܒܠܚܘܕܝܗ | οὕτως καὶ ἡ πίστις, ἐὰν μὴ ἔχῃ ἔργα, νεκρά ἐστιν καθ’ ἑαυτήν. | 17 | Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. {alone: Gr. by itself} | هَكَذَا ٱلْإِيمَانُ أَيْضًا، إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ أَعْمَالٌ، مَيِّتٌ فِي ذَاتِهِ. | |
| ܐܡܪ ܓܝܪ ܐܢܫ ܠܟ ܐܝܬ ܠܟ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܠܝ ܐܝܬ ܠܝ ܥܒܕܐ ܚܘܢܝ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟ ܕܠܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܘܐܢܐ ܡܚܘܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܝ ܡܢ ܥܒܕܝ | ἀλλ’ ἐρεῖ τις Σὺ πίστιν ἔχεις, κἀγὼ ἔργα ἔχω· δεῖξόν μοι τὴν πίστιν σου χωρὶς τῶν ἔργων, κἀγώ σοι δείξω ἐκ τῶν ἔργων μου τὴν πίστιν. | 18 | Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. {without: some copies read, by} | لَكِنْ يَقُولُ قَائِلٌ: «أَنْتَ لَكَ إِيمَانٌ، وَأَنَا لِي أَعْمَالٌ. أَرِنِي إِيمَانَكَ بِدُونِ أَعْمَالِكَ، وَأَنَا أُرِيكَ بِأَعْمَالِي إِيمَانِي». | |
| ܡܗܝܡܢ ܐܢܬ ܕܚܕ ܗܘ ܐܠܗܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܬ ܐܦ ܫܐܕܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܘܪܥܠܝܢ | σὺ πιστεύεις ὅτι εἷς ἐστιν ὁ Θεός; καλῶς ποιεῖς· καὶ τὰ δαιμόνια πιστεύουσιν καὶ φρίσσουσιν. | 19 | Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. | أَنْتَ تُؤْمِنُ أَنَّ ٱللهَ وَاحِدٌ. حَسَنًا تَفْعَلُ. وَٱلشَّيَاطِينُ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَيَقْشَعِرُّونَ! | |
| ܨܒܐ ܐܢܬ ܕܝܢ ܕܬܕܥ ܐܘ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܚܠܫܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܗܝ | θέλεις δὲ γνῶναι, ὦ ἄνθρωπε κενέ, ὅτι ἡ πίστις χωρὶς τῶν ἔργων ἀργή ἐστιν; | 20 | But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? | وَلَكِنْ هَلْ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَعْلَمَ أَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنْسَانُ ٱلْبَاطِلُ أَنَّ ٱلْإِيمَانَ بِدُونِ أَعْمَالٍ مَيِّتٌ؟ | |
| ܐܒܘܢ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܥܒܕܐ ܐܙܕܕܩ ܕܐܣܩ ܠܐܝܣܚܩ ܒܪܗ ܥܠ ܡܕܒܚܐ | Ἀβραὰμ ὁ πατὴρ ἡμῶν οὐκ ἐξ ἔργων ἐδικαιώθη, ἀνενέγκας Ἰσαὰκ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον; | 21 | Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? | أَلَمْ يَتَبَرَّرْ إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَبُونَا بِٱلْأَعْمَالِ، إِذْ قَدَّمَ إِسْحَاقَ ٱبْنَهُ عَلَى ٱلْمَذْبَحِ؟ | |
| ܚܙܐ ܐܢܬ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܗ ܣܝܥܬ ܠܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܘܡܢ ܥܒܕܐ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܗ ܐܬܓܡܪܬ | βλέπεις ὅτι ἡ πίστις συνήργει τοῖς ἔργοις αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἔργων ἡ πίστις ἐτελειώθη, | 22 | Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? {Seest...: or, Thou seest} | فَتَرَى أَنَّ ٱلْإِيمَانَ عَمِلَ مَعَ أَعْمَالِهِ، وَبِٱلْأَعْمَالِ أُكْمِلَ ٱلْإِيمَانُ، | |
| ܘܫܠܡ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܗܝܡܢ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܒܐܠܗܐ ܘܐܬܚܫܒܬ ܠܗ ܠܙܕܝܩܘ ܘܪܚܡܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܬܩܪܝ | καὶ ἐπληρώθη ἡ γραφὴ ἡ λέγουσα Ἐπίστευσεν δὲ Ἀβραὰμ τῷ Θεῷ, καὶ ἐλογίσθη αὐτῷ εἰς δικαιοσύνην, καὶ φίλος Θεοῦ ἐκλήθη. | 23 | And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. | وَتَمَّ ٱلْكِتَابُ ٱلْقَائِلُ: «فَآمَنَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بِٱللهِ فَحُسِبَ لَهُ بِرًّا»، وَدُعِيَ خَلِيلَ ٱللهِ. | |
| ܚܙܐ ܐܢܬ ܕܡܢ ܥܒܕܐ ܡܙܕܕܩ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ | ὁρᾶτε ὅτι ἐξ ἔργων δικαιοῦται ἄνθρωπος καὶ οὐκ ἐκ πίστεως μόνον. | 24 | Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. | تَرَوْنَ إِذًا أَنَّهُ بِٱلْأَعْمَالِ يَتَبَرَّرُ ٱلْإِنْسَانُ، لَابِٱلْإِيمَانِ وَحْدَهُ. | |
| ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܪܚܒ ܙܢܝܬܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܥܒܕܐ ܐܙܕܕܩܬ ܕܩܒܠܬ ܠܓܫܘܫܐ ܘܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܐܦܩܬ ܐܢܘܢ | ὁμοίως δὲ καὶ Ῥαὰβ ἡ πόρνη οὐκ ἐξ ἔργων ἐδικαιώθη, ὑποδεξαμένη τοὺς ἀγγέλους καὶ ἑτέρᾳ ὁδῷ ἐκβαλοῦσα; | 25 | Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent {them} out another way? | كَذَلِكَ رَاحَابُ ٱلزَّانِيَةُ أَيْضًا، أَمَا تَبَرَّرَتْ بِٱلْأَعْمَالِ، إِذْ قَبِلَتِ ٱلرُّسُلَ وَأَخْرَجَتْهُمْ فِي طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ؟ | |
| ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܦܓܪܐ ܕܠܐ ܪܘܚܐ ܡܝܬ ܗܘ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܗܝ | ὥσπερ γὰρ τὸ σῶμα χωρὶς πνεύματος νεκρόν ἐστιν, οὕτως καὶ ἡ πίστις χωρὶς ἔργων νεκρά ἐστιν. | 26 | For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. {spirit: or, breath} | لِأَنَّهُ كَمَا أَنَّ ٱلْجَسَدَ بِدُونَ رُوحٍ مَيِّتٌ، هَكَذَا ٱلْإِيمَانُ أَيْضًا بِدُونِ أَعْمَالٍ مَيِّتٌ. |

| ܠܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܒܟܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܐܠܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܕܕܝܢܐ ܝܬܝܪܐ ܚܝܒܝܢܢ | Μὴ πολλοὶ διδάσκαλοι γίνεσθε, ἀδελφοί μου, εἰδότες ὅτι μεῖζον κρίμα λημψόμεθα. | 1 | My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. {condemnation: or, judgment} | لَا تَكُونُوا مُعَلِّمِينَ كَثِيرِينَ يَا إِخْوَتِي، عَالِمِينَ أَنَّنَا نَأْخُذُ دَيْنُونَةً أَعْظَمَ! | |
| ܣܓܝܐܬܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܫܬܪܥܝܢܢ ܟܠܢ ܟܠ ܕܒܡܠܬܐ ܠܐ ܫܪܥ ܗܢܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܓܒܪܐ ܓܡܝܪܐ ܕܡܫܟܚ ܢܫܥܒܕ ܐܦ ܟܠܗ ܦܓܪܗ | πολλὰ γὰρ πταίομεν ἅπαντες· εἴ τις ἐν λόγῳ οὐ πταίει, οὗτος τέλειος ἀνήρ, δυνατὸς χαλιναγωγῆσαι καὶ ὅλον τὸ σῶμα. | 2 | For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same {is} a perfect man, {and} able also to bridle the whole body. | لِأَنَّنَا فِي أَشْيَاءَ كَثِيرَةٍ نَعْثُرُ جَمِيعُنَا. إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ لَا يَعْثُرُ فِي ٱلْكَلَامِ فَذَاكَ رَجُلٌ كَامِلٌ، قَادِرٌ أَنْ يُلْجِمَ كُلَّ ٱلْجَسَدِ أَيْضًا. | |
| ܗܐ ܓܝܪ ܦܓܘܕܐ ܒܦܘܡܐ ܕܪܟܫܐ ܪܡܝܢܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܢܫܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܠܢ ܘܟܠܗ ܓܘܫܡܗܘܢ ܡܗܦܟܝܢܢ | εἰ δὲ τῶν ἵππων τοὺς χαλινοὺς εἰς τὰ στόματα βάλλομεν εἰς τὸ πείθεσθαι αὐτοὺς ἡμῖν, καὶ ὅλον τὸ σῶμα αὐτῶν μετάγομεν. | 3 | Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. | هُوَذَا ٱلْخَيْلُ، نَضَعُ ٱللُّجُمَ فِي أَفْوَاهِهَا لِكَيْ تُطَاوِعَنَا، فَنُدِيرَ جِسْمَهَا كُلَّهُ. | |
| ܐܦ ܐܠܦܐ ܥܫܝܢܬܐ ܟܕ ܕܒܝܪܢ ܠܗܝܢ ܪܘܚܐ ܩܫܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܩܝܣܐ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܡܬܢܬܦܢ ܠܐܬܪ ܕܚܐܪ ܨܒܝܢܗ ܕܗܘ ܕܡܕܒܪ | ἰδοὺ καὶ τὰ πλοῖα, τηλικαῦτα ὄντα καὶ ὑπὸ ἀνέμων σκληρῶν ἐλαυνόμενα, μετάγεται ὑπὸ ἐλαχίστου πηδαλίου ὅπου ἡ ὁρμὴ τοῦ εὐθύνοντος βούλεται· | 4 | Behold also the ships, which though {they be} so great, and {are} driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. | هُوَذَا ٱلسُّفُنُ أَيْضًا، وَهِيَ عَظِيمَةٌ بِهَذَا ٱلْمِقْدَارِ، وَتَسُوقُهَا رِيَاحٌ عَاصِفَةٌ، تُدِيرُهَا دَفَّةٌ صَغِيرَةٌ جِدًّا إِلَى حَيْثُمَا شَاءَ قَصْدُ ٱلْمُدِيرِ. | |
| ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܠܫܢܐ ܗܕܡܐ ܗܘ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܘܡܫܬܥܠܐ ܐܦ ܢܘܪܐ ܙܥܘܪܬܐ ܥܒܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܡܘܩܕܐ | οὕτως καὶ ἡ γλῶσσα μικρὸν μέλος ἐστὶν καὶ μεγάλα αὐχεῖ. ἰδοὺ ἡλίκον πῦρ ἡλίκην ὕλην ἀνάπτει· | 5 | Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! {a matter: or, wood} | هَكَذَا ٱللِّسَانُ أَيْضًا، هُوَ عُضْوٌ صَغِيرٌ وَيَفْتَخِرُ مُتَعَظِّمًا. هُوَذَا نَارٌ قَلِيلَةٌ، أَيَّ وُقُودٍ تُحْرِقُ! | |
| ܘܠܫܢܐ ܢܘܪܐ ܗܘ ܘܥܠܡܐ ܕܚܛܝܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܥܒܐ ܗܘ ܘܗܘ ܠܫܢܐ ܟܕ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܒܗܕܡܝܢ ܡܟܬܡ ܠܗ ܠܟܠܗ ܦܓܪܢ ܘܡܘܩܕ ܝܘܒܠܐ ܕܫܪܒܬܢ ܕܪܗܛܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܓܝܓܠܐ ܘܝܩܕ ܐܦ ܗܘ ܒܢܘܪܐ | καὶ ἡ γλῶσσα πῦρ, ὁ κόσμος τῆς ἀδικίας, ἡ γλῶσσα καθίσταται ἐν τοῖς μέλεσιν ἡμῶν, ἡ σπιλοῦσα ὅλον τὸ σῶμα καὶ φλογίζουσα τὸν τροχὸν τῆς γενέσεως καὶ φλογιζομένη ὑπὸ τῆς γεέννης. | 6 | And the tongue {is} a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. {course: Gr. wheel} | فَٱللِّسَانُ نَارٌ! عَالَمُ ٱلْإِثْمِ. هَكَذَا جُعِلَ فِي أَعْضَائِنَا ٱللِّسَانُ، ٱلَّذِي يُدَنِّسُ ٱلْجِسْمَ كُلَّهُ، وَيُضْرِمُ دَائِرَةَ ٱلْكَوْنِ، وَيُضْرَمُ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ. | |
| ܟܠܗܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܟܝܢܐ ܕܚܝܘܬܐ ܘܕܦܪܚܬܐ ܘܪܚܫܐ ܕܝܡܐ ܘܕܝܒܫܐ ܡܫܬܥܒܕܝܢ ܠܟܝܢܐ ܕܐܢܫܘܬܐ | πᾶσα γὰρ φύσις θηρίων τε καὶ πετεινῶν ἑρπετῶν τε καὶ ἐναλίων δαμάζεται καὶ δεδάμασται τῇ φύσει τῇ ἀνθρωπίνῃ, | 7 | For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: {kind: Gr. nature} {mankind: Gr. nature of man} | لِأَنَّ كُلَّ طَبْعٍ لِلْوُحُوشِ وَٱلطُّيُورِ وَٱلزَّحَّافَاتِ وَٱلْبَحْرِيَّاتِ يُذَلَّلُ، وَقَدْ تَذَلَّلَ لِلطَّبْعِ ٱلْبَشَرِيِّ. | |
| ܠܫܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܐܫܟܚ ܕܢܟܒܫܝܘܗܝ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܬܬܟܣܐ ܡܠܐ ܗܘ ܣܡܐ ܕܡܘܬܐ | τὴν δὲ γλῶσσαν οὐδεὶς δαμάσαι δύναται ἀνθρώπων· ἀκατάστατον κακόν, μεστὴ ἰοῦ θανατηφόρου. | 8 | But the tongue can no man tame; {it is} an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. | وَأَمَّا ٱللِّسَانُ، فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدٌ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ أَنْ يُذَلِّلَهُ. هُوَ شَرٌّ لَا يُضْبَطُ، مَمْلُوٌّ سُمًّا مُمِيتًا. | |
| ܒܗ ܡܒܪܟܝܢܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܒܐ ܘܒܗ ܠܝܛܝܢܢ ܠܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܕܒܕܡܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܥܒܝܕܝܢ | ἐν αὐτῇ εὐλογοῦμεν τὸν Κύριον καὶ Πατέρα, καὶ ἐν αὐτῇ καταρώμεθα τοὺς ἀνθρώπους τοὺς καθ’ ὁμοίωσιν Θεοῦ γεγονότας· | 9 | Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. | بِهِ نُبَارِكُ ٱللهَ ٱلْآبَ، وَبِهِ نَلْعَنُ ٱلنَّاسَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَدْ تَكَوَّنُوا عَلَى شِبْهِ ٱللهِ. | |
| ܘܡܢܗ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܐ ܢܦܩܢ ܒܘܪܟܬܐ ܘܠܘܛܬܐ ܠܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܚܝ ܕܗܠܝܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܣܬܥܪܢ | ἐκ τοῦ αὐτοῦ στόματος ἐξέρχεται εὐλογία καὶ κατάρα. οὐ χρή, ἀδελφοί μου, ταῦτα οὕτως γίνεσθαι. | 10 | Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. | مِنَ ٱلْفَمِ ٱلْوَاحِدِ تَخْرُجُ بَرَكَةٌ وَلَعْنَةٌ! لَا يَصْلُحُ يَا إِخْوَتِي أَنْ تَكُونَ هَذِهِ ٱلْأُمُورُ هَكَذَا! | |
| ܕܠܡܐ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܕܡܢ ܚܕ ܡܒܘܥܐ ܢܦܩܘܢ ܡܝܐ ܚܠܝܐ ܘܡܪܝܪܐ | μήτι ἡ πηγὴ ἐκ τῆς αὐτῆς ὀπῆς βρύει τὸ γλυκὺ καὶ τὸ πικρόν; | 11 | Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet {water} and bitter? {place: or, hole} | أَلَعَلَّ يَنْبُوعًا يُنْبِعُ مِنْ نَفْسِ عَيْنٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ٱلْعَذْبَ وَٱلْمُرَّ؟ | |
| ܐܘ ܕܠܡܐ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܬܬܐ ܐܚܝ ܕܙܝܬܐ ܬܥܒܕ ܐܘ ܓܦܬܐ ܬܐܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܡܝܐ ܡܠܝܚܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܕܢܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܚܠܝܐ | μὴ δύναται, ἀδελφοί μου, συκῆ ἐλαίας ποιῆσαι ἢ ἄμπελος σῦκα; οὔτε ἁλυκὸν γλυκὺ ποιῆσαι ὕδωρ. | 12 | Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so {can} no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. | هَلْ تَقْدِرُ يَا إِخْوَتِي تِينَةٌ أَنْ تَصْنَعَ زَيْتُونًا، أَوْ كَرْمَةٌ تِينًا؟ وَلَا كَذَلِكَ يَنْبُوعٌ يَصْنَعُ مَاءً مَالِحًا وَعَذْبًا! | |
| ܡܢܘ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܕܚܟܝܡ ܘܪܕܐ ܢܚܘܐ ܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܒܗܘܦܟܐ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܒܚܟܡܬܐ ܡܟܝܟܬܐ | Τίς σοφὸς καὶ ἐπιστήμων ἐν ὑμῖν; δειξάτω ἐκ τῆς καλῆς ἀναστροφῆς τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ ἐν πραΰτητι σοφίας. | 13 | Who {is} a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. | مَنْ هُوَ حَكِيمٌ وَعَالِمٌ بَيْنَكُمْ، فَلْيُرِ أَعْمَالَهُ بِٱلتَّصَرُّفِ ٱلْحَسَنِ فِي وَدَاعَةِ ٱلْحِكْمَةِ. | |
| ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܚܣܡܐ ܡܪܝܪܐ ܐܝܬ ܒܟܘܢ ܐܘ ܚܪܝܢܐ ܒܠܒܝܟܘܢ ܠܐ ܬܬܚܬܪܘܢ ܥܠ ܩܘܫܬܐ ܘܬܕܓܠܘܢ | εἰ δὲ ζῆλον πικρὸν ἔχετε καὶ ἐριθείαν ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ ὑμῶν, μὴ κατακαυχᾶσθε καὶ ψεύδεσθε κατὰ τῆς ἀληθείας. | 14 | But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. | وَلَكِنْ إِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ غَيْرَةٌ مُرَّةٌ وَتَحَزُّبٌ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ، فَلَا تَفْتَخِرُوا وَتَكْذِبُوا عَلَى ٱلْحَقِّ. | |
| ܡܛܠ ܕܗܕܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܡܢ ܠܥܠ ܠܐ ܢܚܬܬ ܐܠܐ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܐܪܥܢܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܚܘܫܒܐ ܕܢܦܫܐ ܘܡܢ ܫܐܕܐ | οὐκ ἔστιν αὕτη ἡ σοφία ἄνωθεν κατερχομένη, ἀλλὰ ἐπίγειος, ψυχική, δαιμονιώδης· | 15 | This wisdom descendeth not from above, but {is} earthly, sensual, devilish. {sensual: or, natural} | لَيْسَتْ هَذِهِ ٱلْحِكْمَةُ نَازِلَةً مِنْ فَوْقُ، بَلْ هِيَ أَرْضِيَّةٌ نَفْسَانِيَّةٌ شَيْطَانِيَّةٌ. | |
| ܐܝܟܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܝܬ ܚܣܡܐ ܘܚܪܝܢܐ ܬܡܢ ܐܦ ܕܠܘܚܝܐ ܘܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܒܝܫ | ὅπου γὰρ ζῆλος καὶ ἐριθεία, ἐκεῖ ἀκαταστασία καὶ πᾶν φαῦλον πρᾶγμα. | 16 | For where envying and strife {is}, there {is} confusion and every evil work. {confusion: Gr. tumult, or, unquietness} | لِأَنَّهُ حَيْثُ ٱلْغَيْرَةُ وَٱلتَّحَزُّبُ، هُنَاكَ ٱلتَّشْوِيشُ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ رَدِيءٍ. | |
| ܚܟܡܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܢ ܠܥܠ ܕܟܝܐ ܗܝ ܘܡܠܝܐ ܫܠܡܐ ܘܡܟܝܟܐ ܘܡܫܬܡܥܢܝܐ ܘܡܠܝܐ ܪܚܡܐ ܘܦܐܪܐ ܛܒܐ ܘܕܠܐ ܦܠܓܘܬܐ ܗܝ ܘܒܐܦܐ ܠܐ ܢܣܒܐ | ἡ δὲ ἄνωθεν σοφία πρῶτον μὲν ἁγνή ἐστιν, ἔπειτα εἰρηνική, ἐπιεικής, εὐπειθής, μεστὴ ἐλέους καὶ καρπῶν ἀγαθῶν, ἀδιάκριτος, ἀνυπόκριτος. | 17 | But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, {and} easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. {partiality: or, wrangling} | وَأَمَّا ٱلْحِكْمَةُ ٱلَّتِي مِنْ فَوْقُ فَهِيَ أَوَّلًا طَاهِرَةٌ، ثُمَّ مُسَالِمَةٌ، مُتَرَفِّقَةٌ، مُذْعِنَةٌ، مَمْلُوَّةٌ رَحْمَةً وَأَثْمَارًا صَالِحَةً، عَدِيمَةُ ٱلرَّيْبِ وَٱلرِّيَاءِ. | |
| ܦܐܪܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܒܫܝܢܐ ܡܙܕܪܥܝܢ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܒܕܝܢ ܫܠܡܐ | καρπὸς δὲ δικαιοσύνης ἐν εἰρήνῃ σπείρεται τοῖς ποιοῦσιν εἰρήνην. | 18 | And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. | وَثَمَرُ ٱلْبِرِّ يُزْرَعُ فِي ٱلسَّلَامِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْعَلُونَ ٱلسَّلَامَ. |

| ܡܢ ܐܝܟܐ ܐܝܬ ܒܟܘܢ ܩܪܒܐ ܘܡܨܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܪܓܝܓܬܐ ܕܡܩܪܒܢ ܒܗܕܡܝܟܘܢ | Πόθεν πόλεμοι καὶ πόθεν μάχαι ἐν ὑμῖν; οὐκ ἐντεῦθεν, ἐκ τῶν ἡδονῶν ὑμῶν τῶν στρατευομένων ἐν τοῖς μέλεσιν ὑμῶν; | 1 | From whence {come} wars and fightings among you? {come they} not hence, {even} of your lusts that war in your members? {fightings: or, brawlings} {lusts: or, pleasures} | مِنْ أَيْنَ ٱلْحُرُوبُ وَٱلْخُصُومَاتُ بَيْنَكُمْ؟ أَلَيْسَتْ مِنْ هُنَا: مِنْ لَذَّاتِكُمُ ٱلْمُحَارِبَةِ فِي أَعْضَائِكُمْ؟ | |
| ܡܬܪܓܪܓܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܠܝܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܩܛܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܛܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܬܝܐ ܒܐܝܕܝܟܘܢ ܘܢܨܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܩܪܒܐ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܠܝܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܫܐܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ | ἐπιθυμεῖτε, καὶ οὐκ ἔχετε· φονεύετε καὶ ζηλοῦτε, καὶ οὐ δύνασθε ἐπιτυχεῖν· μάχεσθε καὶ πολεμεῖτε. οὐκ ἔχετε διὰ τὸ μὴ αἰτεῖσθαι ὑμᾶς· | 2 | Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. | تَشْتَهُونَ وَلَسْتُمْ تَمْتَلِكُونَ. تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَحْسِدُونَ وَلَسْتُمْ تَقْدِرُونَ أَنْ تَنَالُوا. تُخَاصِمُونَ وَتُحَارِبُونَ وَلَسْتُمْ تَمْتَلِكُونَ، لِأَنَّكُمْ لَا تَطْلُبُونَ. | |

| ܐܘ ܕܠܡܐ ܣܪܝܩܐܝܬ ܣܒܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܡܪ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܒܛܢܢܐ ܪܓܐ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܥܡܪܐ ܒܢ | ἢ δοκεῖτε ὅτι κενῶς ἡ γραφὴ λέγει Πρὸς φθόνον ἐπιποθεῖ τὸ πνεῦμα ὃ κατῴκισεν ἐν ἡμῖν; | 5 | Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? {to envy: or, enviously?} | أَمْ تَظُنُّونَ أَنَّ ٱلْكِتَابَ يَقُولُ بَاطِلًا: ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلَّذِي حَلَّ فِينَا يَشْتَاقُ إِلَى ٱلْحَسَدِ؟ | |
| ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܝܬܝܪܬܐ ܝܗܒ ܠܢ ܡܪܢ ܡܛܠ ܗܕܐ ܐܡܪ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܡܟܟ ܠܪܡܐ ܘܠܡܟܝܟܐ ܝܗܒ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ | μείζονα δὲ δίδωσιν χάριν· διὸ λέγει Ὁ Θεὸς ὑπερηφάνοις ἀντιτάσσεται, ταπεινοῖς δὲ δίδωσιν χάριν. | 6 | But he giveth more grace. | ܐܫܬܥܒܕܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܘܩܘܡܘ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܣܛܢܐ ܘܥܪܩ ܡܢܟܘܢ | ὑποτάγητε οὖν τῷ Θεῷ· ἀντίστητε δὲ τῷ διαβόλῳ, καὶ φεύξεται ἀφ’ ὑμῶν· | 7 | Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. | فَٱخْضَعُوا لِلهِ. قَاوِمُوا إِبْلِيسَ فَيَهْرُبَ مِنْكُمْ. | |

| ܐܘ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܐܝܠܠܘ ܘܒܟܘ ܥܠ ܕܘܘܢܐ ܕܐܬܝܢ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ | Ἄγε νῦν οἱ πλούσιοι, κλαύσατε ὀλολύζοντες ἐπὶ ταῖς ταλαιπωρίαις ὑμῶν ταῖς ἐπερχομέναις. | 1 | Go to now, {ye} rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon {you}. | هَلُمَّ ٱلْآنَ أَيُّهَا ٱلْأَغْنِيَاءُ، ٱبْكُوا مُوَلْوِلِينَ عَلَى شَقَاوَتِكُمُ ٱلْقَادِمَةِ. | |

| ܒܣܡܬܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܐܬܠܥܒܬܘܢ ܘܬܪܣܝܬܘܢ ܦܓܪܝܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܢܟܣܬܐ | ἐτρυφήσατε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐσπαταλήσατε, ἐθρέψατε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ σφαγῆς. | 5 | Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. | قَدْ تَرَفَّهْتُمْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ، وَتَنَعَّمْتُمْ وَرَبَّيْتُمْ قُلُوبَكُمْ، كَمَا فِي يَوْمِ ٱلذَّبْحِ. | |
| ܚܝܒܬܘܢ ܘܩܛܠܬܘܢ ܠܙܕܝܩܐ ܘܠܐ ܩܡ ܠܘܩܒܠܟܘܢ | κατεδικάσατε, ἐφονεύσατε τὸν δίκαιον· οὐκ ἀντιτάσσεται ὑμῖν. | 6 | Ye have condemned {and} killed the just; {and} he doth not resist you. | حَكَمْتُمْ عَلَى ٱلْبَارِّ. قَتَلْتُمُوهُ. لَا يُقَاوِمُكُمْ! | |

| ܕܡܘܬܐ ܠܢܒܝܐ ܣܒܘ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܠܡܓܪܬ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܐܘܠܨܢܝܟܘܢ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܡܠܠܘ ܒܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ | ὑπόδειγμα λάβετε, ἀδελφοί, τῆς κακοπαθείας καὶ τῆς μακροθυμίας τοὺς προφήτας, οἳ ἐλάλησαν ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου. | 10 | Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. | خُذُوا يَا إِخْوَتِي مِثَالًا لِٱحْتِمَالِ ٱلْمَشَقَّاتِ وَٱلْأَنَاةِ: ٱلْأَنْبِيَاءَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَكَلَّمُوا بِٱسْمِ ٱلرَّبِّ. | |
| ܗܐ ܓܝܪ ܝܗܒܝܢܢ ܛܘܒܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܣܝܒܪܘ ܫܡܥܬܘܢ ܡܣܝܒܪܢܘܬܗ ܕܐܝܘܒ ܘܚܪܬܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܗ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܙܝܬܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܪܚܡܢ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܡܪܚܦܢ | ἰδοὺ μακαρίζομεν τοὺς ὑπομείναντας· τὴν ὑπομονὴν Ἰὼβ ἠκούσατε, καὶ τὸ τέλος Κυρίου εἴδετε, ὅτι πολύσπλαγχνός ἐστιν ὁ Κύριος καὶ οἰκτίρμων. | 11 | Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. | هَا نَحْنُ نُطَوِّبُ ٱلصَّابِرِينَ. قَدْ سَمِعْتُمْ بِصَبْرِ أَيُّوبَ وَرَأَيْتُمْ عَاقِبَةَ ٱلرَّبِّ. لِأَنَّ ٱلرَّبَّ كَثِيرُ ٱلرَّحْمَةِ وَرَؤُوفٌ. | |
| ܩܕܡ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܝܢ ܐܚܝ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܝܡܝܢ ܠܐ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܐܦܠܐ ܒܡܘܡܬܐ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܡܠܬܟܘܢ ܐܝܢ ܐܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܠܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܬܚܝܒܘܢ ܬܚܝܬ ܕܝܢܐ | Πρὸ πάντων δέ, ἀδελφοί μου, μὴ ὀμνύετε, μήτε τὸν οὐρανὸν μήτε τὴν γῆν μήτε ἄλλον τινὰ ὅρκον· ἤτω δὲ ὑμῶν τὸ Ναὶ ναί, καὶ τὸ Οὒ οὔ, ἵνα μὴ ὑπὸ κρίσιν πέσητε. | 12 | But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and {your} nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. | وَلَكِنْ قَبْلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يَا إِخْوَتِي، لَا تَحْلِفُوا، لَا بِٱلسَّمَاءِ، وَلَا بِٱلْأَرْضِ، وَلَا بِقَسَمٍ آخَرَ. بَلْ لِتَكُنْ نَعَمْكُمْ نَعَمْ، وَلَاكُمْ لَا، لِئَلَّا تَقَعُوا تَحْتَ دَيْنُونَةٍ. | |
| ܘܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܡܨܠܐ ܘܐܢ ܚܕܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܡܙܡܪ | Κακοπαθεῖ τις ἐν ὑμῖν; προσευχέσθω· εὐθυμεῖ τις; ψαλλέτω. | 13 | Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. | أَعَلَى أَحَدٍ بَيْنَكُمْ مَشَقَّاتٌ؟ فَلْيُصَلِّ. أَمَسْرُورٌ أَحَدٌ؟ فَلْيُرَتِّلْ. | |
| ܘܐܢ ܟܪܝܗ ܢܩܪܐ ܠܩܫܝܫܐ ܕܥܕܬܐ ܘܢܨܠܘܢ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܢܡܫܚܘܢܗ ܡܫܚܐ ܒܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܢ | ἀσθενεῖ τις ἐν ὑμῖν; προσκαλεσάσθω τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους τῆς ἐκκλησίας, καὶ προσευξάσθωσαν ἐπ’ αὐτὸν ἀλείψαντες ἐλαίῳ ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ Κυρίου. | 14 | Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: | أَمَرِيضٌ أَحَدٌ بَيْنَكُمْ؟ فَلْيَدْعُ شُيُوخَ ٱلْكَنِيسَةِ فَيُصَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَيَدْهُنُوهُ بِزَيْتٍ بِٱسْمِ ٱلرَّبِّ، | |
| ܘܨܠܘܬܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܡܚܠܡܐ ܠܗ ܠܗܘ ܕܟܪܝܗ ܘܡܩܝܡ ܠܗ ܡܪܢ ܘܐܢ ܚܛܗܐ ܥܒܝܕܝܢ ܠܗ ܡܫܬܒܩܝܢ ܠܗ | καὶ ἡ εὐχὴ τῆς πίστεως σώσει τὸν κάμνοντα, καὶ ἐγερεῖ αὐτὸν ὁ Κύριος· κἂν ἁμαρτίας ᾖ πεποιηκώς, ἀφεθήσεται αὐτῷ. | 15 | And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. | وَصَلَاةُ ٱلْإِيمَانِ تَشْفِي ٱلْمَرِيضَ، وَٱلرَّبُّ يُقِيمُهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ قَدْ فَعَلَ خَطِيَّةً تُغْفَرُ لَهُ. | |
| ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܘܕܝܢ ܣܟܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ ܘܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܡܨܠܝܢ ܚܕ ܥܠ ܚܕ ܕܬܬܐܣܘܢ ܪܒ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܚܝܠܗ ܕܨܠܘܬܐ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܙܕܝܩܐ ܡܨܠܐ ܠܗ | ἐξομολογεῖσθε οὖν ἀλλήλοις τὰς ἁμαρτίας, καὶ προσεύχεσθε ὑπὲρ ἀλλήλων, ὅπως ἰαθῆτε. πολὺ ἰσχύει δέησις δικαίου ἐνεργουμένη. | 16 | Confess {your} faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. | اِعْتَرِفُوا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ بِٱلزَلَّاتِ، وَصَلُّوا بَعْضُكُمْ لِأَجْلِ بَعْضٍ، لِكَيْ تُشْفَوْا. طَلِبَةُ ٱلْبَارِّ تَقْتَدِرُ كَثِيرًا فِي فِعْلِهَا. | |
| ܐܦ ܐܠܝܐ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܗܘܐ ܚܫܘܫܐ ܐܟܘܬܢ ܘܨܠܝ ܕܠܐ ܢܚܘܬ ܡܛܪܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܚܬ ܬܠܬ ܫܢܝܢ ܘܫܬܐ ܝܪܚܝܢ | Ἠλείας ἄνθρωπος ἦν ὁμοιοπαθὴς ἡμῖν, καὶ προσευχῇ προσηύξατο τοῦ μὴ βρέξαι, καὶ οὐκ ἔβρεξεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐνιαυτοὺς τρεῖς καὶ μῆνας ἕξ· | 17 | Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. {subject...: of the same nature, that is, a fellow mortal} {earnestly: or, in his prayer} | كَانَ إِيلِيَّا إِنْسَانًا تَحْتَ ٱلْآلَامِ مِثْلَنَا، وَصَلَّى صَلَاةً أَنْ لَا تُمْطِرَ، فَلَمْ تُمْطِرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثَلَاثَ سِنِينَ وَسِتَّةَ أَشْهُرٍ. | |
| ܘܬܘܒ ܨܠܝ ܘܫܡܝܐ ܝܗܒܘ ܡܛܪܐ ܘܐܪܥܐ ܝܗܒܬ ܦܐܪܝܗ | καὶ πάλιν προσηύξατο, καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς ὑετὸν ἔδωκεν καὶ ἡ γῆ ἐβλάστησεν τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς. | 18 | And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. | ثُمَّ صَلَّى أَيْضًا، فَأَعْطَتِ ٱلسَّمَاءُ مَطَرًا، وَأَخْرَجَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ ثَمَرَهَا. | |
| ܐܚܝ ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܢܛܥܐ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܩܘܫܬܐ ܘܢܦܢܝܘܗܝ ܐܢܫ ܡܢ ܛܥܝܘܬܗ | Ἀδελφοί μου, ἐάν τις ἐν ὑμῖν πλανηθῇ ἀπὸ τῆς ἀληθείας καὶ ἐπιστρέψῃ τις αὐτόν, | 19 | Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; | أَيُّهَا ٱلْإِخْوَةُ، إِنْ ضَلَّ أَحَدٌ بَيْنَكُمْ عَنِ ٱلْحَقِّ فَرَدَّهُ أَحَدٌ، | |
| ܢܕܥ ܕܗܘ ܕܡܗܦܟ ܠܚܛܝܐ ܡܢ ܛܥܝܘܬܐ ܕܐܘܪܚܗ ܡܚܐ ܢܦܫܗ ܡܢ ܡܘܬܐ ܘܥܛܐ ܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܚܛܗܘܗܝ | γινώσκετε ὅτι ὁ ἐπιστρέψας ἁμαρτωλὸν ἐκ πλάνης ὁδοῦ αὐτοῦ σώσει ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ ἐκ θανάτου καὶ καλύψει πλῆθος ἁμαρτιῶν. | 20 | Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. | فَلْيَعْلَمْ أَنَّ مَنْ رَدَّ خَاطِئًا عَنْ ضَلَالِ طَرِيقِهِ، يُخَلِّصُ نَفْسًا مِنَ ٱلْمَوْتِ، وَيَسْتُرُ كَثْرَةً مِنَ ٱلْخَطَايَا. |
