| דִּבְרֵי֙ קֹהֶ֣לֶת בֶּן דָּוִ֔ד מֶ֖לֶךְ בִּ/ירוּשָׁלִָֽם | 1 | The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. | كَلَامُ ٱلْجَامِعَةِ ٱبْنِ دَاوُدَ ٱلْمَلِكِ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ: | |
| הֲבֵ֤ל הֲבָלִים֙ אָמַ֣ר קֹהֶ֔לֶת הֲבֵ֥ל הֲבָלִ֖ים הַ/כֹּ֥ל הָֽבֶל | 2 | Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all {is} vanity. | بَاطِلُ ٱلْأَبَاطِيلِ، قَالَ ٱلْجَامِعَةُ: بَاطِلُ ٱلْأَبَاطِيلِ، ٱلْكُلُّ بَاطِلٌ. | |
| מַה יִּתְר֖וֹן לָֽ/אָדָ֑ם בְּ/כָל עֲמָל֔/וֹ שֶֽׁ/יַּעֲמֹ֖ל תַּ֥חַת הַ/שָּֽׁמֶשׁ | 3 | What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun? | مَا ٱلْفَائِدَةُ لِلْإِنْسَانِ مِنْ كُلِّ تَعَبِهِ ٱلَّذِي يَتْعَبُهُ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ؟ | |
| דּ֤וֹר הֹלֵךְ֙ וְ/ד֣וֹר בָּ֔א וְ/הָ/אָ֖רֶץ לְ/עוֹלָ֥ם עֹמָֽדֶת | 4 | {One} generation passeth away, and {another} generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. | دَوْرٌ يَمْضِي وَدَوْرٌ يَجِيءُ، وَٱلْأَرْضُ قَائِمَةٌ إِلَى ٱلْأَبَدِ. | |
| וְ/זָרַ֥ח הַ/שֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ וּ/בָ֣א הַ/שָּׁ֑מֶשׁ וְ/אֶ֨ל מְקוֹמ֔/וֹ שׁוֹאֵ֛ף זוֹרֵ֥חַֽ ה֖וּא שָֽׁם | 5 | The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose. {hasteth: Heb. panteth} | وَٱلشَّمْسُ تُشْرِقُ، وَٱلشَّمْسُ تَغْرُبُ، وَتُسْرِعُ إِلَى مَوْضِعِهَا حَيْثُ تُشْرِقُ. | |
| הוֹלֵךְ֙ אֶל דָּר֔וֹם וְ/סוֹבֵ֖ב אֶל צָפ֑וֹן סוֹבֵ֤ב סֹבֵב֙ הוֹלֵ֣ךְ הָ/ר֔וּחַ וְ/עַל סְבִיבֹתָ֖י/ו שָׁ֥ב הָ/רֽוּחַ | 6 | The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits. | اَلرِّيحُ تَذْهَبُ إِلَى ٱلْجَنُوبِ، وَتَدُورُ إِلَى ٱلشَّمَالِ. تَذْهَبُ دَائِرَةً دَوَرَانًا، وَإِلَى مَدَارَاتِهَا تَرْجِعُ ٱلرِّيحُ. | |
| כָּל הַ/נְּחָלִים֙ הֹלְכִ֣ים אֶל הַ/יָּ֔ם וְ/הַ/יָּ֖ם אֵינֶ֣/נּוּ מָלֵ֑א אֶל מְק֗וֹם שֶׁ֤/הַ/נְּחָלִים֙ הֹֽלְכִ֔ים שָׁ֛ם הֵ֥ם שָׁבִ֖ים לָ/לָֽכֶת | 7 | All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea {is} not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. {return...: Heb. return to go} | كُلُّ ٱلْأَنْهَارِ تَجْرِي إِلَى ٱلْبَحْرِ، وَٱلْبَحْرُ لَيْسَ بِمَلآنَ. إِلَى ٱلْمَكَانِ ٱلَّذِي جَرَتْ مِنْهُ ٱلْأَنْهَارُ إِلَى هُنَاكَ تَذْهَبُ رَاجِعَةً. | |
| כָּל הַ/דְּבָרִ֣ים יְגֵעִ֔ים לֹא יוּכַ֥ל אִ֖ישׁ לְ/דַבֵּ֑ר לֹא תִשְׂבַּ֥ע עַ֨יִן֙ לִ/רְא֔וֹת וְ/לֹא תִמָּלֵ֥א אֹ֖זֶן מִ/שְּׁמֹֽעַ | 8 | All things {are} full of labour; man cannot utter {it}: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. | كُلُّ ٱلْكَلَامِ يَقْصُرُ. لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ ٱلْإِنْسَانُ أَنْ يُخْبِرَ بِٱلْكُلِّ. ٱلْعَيْنُ لَا تَشْبَعُ مِنَ ٱلنَّظَرِ، وَٱلْأُذُنُ لَا تَمْتَلِئُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمْعِ. | |
| מַה שֶּֽׁ/הָיָה֙ ה֣וּא שֶׁ/יִּהְיֶ֔ה וּ/מַה שֶׁ/נַּֽעֲשָׂ֔ה ה֖וּא שֶׁ/יֵּעָשֶׂ֑ה וְ/אֵ֥ין כָּל חָדָ֖שׁ תַּ֥חַת הַ/שָּֽׁמֶשׁ | 9 | The thing that hath been, it {is that} which shall be; and that which is done {is} that which shall be done: and {there is} no new {thing} under the sun. | مَا كَانَ فَهُوَ مَا يَكُونُ، وَٱلَّذِي صُنِعَ فَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُصْنَعُ، فَلَيْسَ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ جَدِيدٌ. | |
| יֵ֥שׁ דָּבָ֛ר שֶׁ/יֹּאמַ֥ר רְאֵה זֶ֖ה חָדָ֣שׁ ה֑וּא כְּבָר֙ הָיָ֣ה לְ/עֹֽלָמִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיָ֖ה מִ/לְּ/פָנֵֽ/נוּ | 10 | Is there {any} thing whereof it may be said, See, this {is} new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. | إِنْ وُجِدَ شَيْءٌ يُقَالُ عَنْهُ: «ٱنْظُرْ. هَذَا جَدِيدٌ!» فَهُوَ مُنْذُ زَمَانٍ كَانَ فِي ٱلدُّهُورِ ٱلَّتِي كَانَتْ قَبْلَنَا. | |
| אֵ֥ין זִכְר֖וֹן לָ/רִאשֹׁנִ֑ים וְ/גַ֨ם לָ/אַחֲרֹנִ֜ים שֶׁ/יִּהְי֗וּ לֹֽא יִהְיֶ֤ה לָ/הֶם֙ זִכָּר֔וֹן עִ֥ם שֶׁ/יִּהְי֖וּ לָ/אַחֲרֹנָֽה | 11 | {There is} no remembrance of former {things}; neither shall there be {any} remembrance of {things} that are to come with {those} that shall come after. | لَيْسَ ذِكْرٌ لِلْأَوَّلِينَ. وَٱلْآخِرُونَ أَيْضًا ٱلَّذِينَ سَيَكُونُونَ، لَا يَكُونُ لَهُمْ ذِكْرٌ عِنْدَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكُونُونَ بَعْدَهُمْ. | |
| אֲנִ֣י קֹהֶ֗לֶת הָיִ֥יתִי מֶ֛לֶךְ עַל יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בִּ/ירוּשָׁלִָֽם | 12 | I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem. | أَنَا ٱلْجَامِعَةُ كُنْتُ مَلِكًا عَلَى إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ. | |
| וְ/נָתַ֣תִּי אֶת לִבִּ֗/י לִ/דְר֤וֹשׁ וְ/לָ/תוּר֙ בַּֽ/חָכְמָ֔ה עַ֛ל כָּל אֲשֶׁ֥ר נַעֲשָׂ֖ה תַּ֣חַת הַ/שָּׁמָ֑יִם ה֣וּא עִנְיַ֣ן רָ֗ע נָתַ֧ן אֱלֹהִ֛ים לִ/בְנֵ֥י הָ/אָדָ֖ם לַ/עֲנ֥וֹת בּֽ/וֹ | 13 | And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all {things} that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith. {to be...: or, to afflict them} | وَوَجَّهْتُ قَلْبِي لِلسُّؤَالِ وَٱلتَّفْتِيشِ بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ عَنْ كُلِّ مَا عُمِلَ تَحْتَ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ. هُوَ عَنَاءٌ رَدِيءٌ جَعَلَهَا ٱللهُ لِبَنِي ٱلْبَشَرِ لِيَعْنُوا فِيهِ. | |
| רָאִ֨יתִי֙ אֶת כָּל הַֽ/מַּעֲשִׂ֔ים שֶֽׁ/נַּעֲשׂ֖וּ תַּ֣חַת הַ/שָּׁ֑מֶשׁ וְ/הִנֵּ֥ה הַ/כֹּ֛ל הֶ֖בֶל וּ/רְע֥וּת רֽוּחַ | 14 | I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all {is} vanity and vexation of spirit. | رَأَيْتُ كُلَّ ٱلْأَعْمَالِ ٱلَّتِي عُمِلَتْ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ فَإِذَا ٱلْكُلُّ بَاطِلٌ وَقَبْضُ ٱلرِّيحِ. | |
| מְעֻוָּ֖ת לֹא יוּכַ֣ל לִ/תְקֹ֑ן וְ/חֶסְר֖וֹן לֹא יוּכַ֥ל לְ/הִמָּנֽוֹת | 15 | {That which is} crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered. {that which is wanting: Heb. defect} | اَلْأَعْوَجُ لَا يُمْكِنُ أَنْ يُقَوَّمَ، وَٱلنَّقْصُ لَا يُمْكِنُ أَنْ يُجْبَرَ. | |
| דִּבַּ֨רְתִּי אֲנִ֤י עִם לִבִּ/י֙ לֵ/אמֹ֔ר אֲנִ֗י הִנֵּ֨ה הִגְדַּ֤לְתִּי וְ/הוֹסַ֨פְתִּי֙ חָכְמָ֔ה עַ֛ל כָּל אֲשֶׁר הָיָ֥ה לְ/פָנַ֖/י עַל יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְ/לִבִּ֛/י רָאָ֥ה הַרְבֵּ֖ה חָכְמָ֥ה וָ/דָֽעַת | 16 | I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all {they} that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge. {had...: Heb. had seen much} | أَنَا نَاجَيْتُ قَلْبِي قَائِلًا: «هَا أَنَا قَدْ عَظُمْتُ وَٱزْدَدْتُ حِكْمَةً أَكْثَرَ مِنْ كُلِّ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلِي عَلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ، وَقَدْ رَأَى قَلْبِي كَثِيرًا مِنَ ٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَعْرِفَةِ». | |
| וָ/אֶתְּנָ֤/ה לִבִּ/י֙ לָ/דַ֣עַת חָכְמָ֔ה וְ/דַ֥עַת הוֹלֵל֖וֹת וְ/שִׂכְל֑וּת יָדַ֕עְתִּי שֶׁ/גַּם זֶ֥ה ה֖וּא רַעְי֥וֹן רֽוּחַ | 17 | And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit. | وَوَجَّهْتُ قَلْبِي لِمَعْرِفَةِ ٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَلِمَعْرِفَةِ ٱلْحَمَاقَةِ وَٱلْجَهْلِ، فَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّ هَذَا أَيْضًا قَبْضُ ٱلرِّيحِ. | |
| כִּ֛י בְּ/רֹ֥ב חָכְמָ֖ה רָב כָּ֑עַס וְ/יוֹסִ֥יף דַּ֖עַת יוֹסִ֥יף מַכְאֽוֹב | 18 | For in much wisdom {is} much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. | لِأَنَّ فِي كَثْرَةِ ٱلْحِكْمَةِ كَثْرَةُ ٱلْغَمِّ، وَٱلَّذِي يَزِيدُ عِلْمًا يَزِيدُ حُزْنًا. |

| אָמַ֤רְתִּֽי אֲנִי֙ בְּ/לִבִּ֔/י לְכָ/ה נָּ֛א אֲנַסְּ/כָ֛ה בְ/שִׂמְחָ֖ה וּ/רְאֵ֣ה בְ/ט֑וֹב וְ/הִנֵּ֥ה גַם ה֖וּא הָֽבֶל | 1 | I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also {is} vanity. | قُلْتُ أَنَا فِي قَلْبِي: «هَلُمَّ أَمْتَحِنُكَ بِٱلْفَرَحِ فَتَرَى خَيْرًا». وَإِذَا هَذَا أَيْضًا بَاطِلٌ. | |
| לִ/שְׂח֖וֹק אָמַ֣רְתִּי מְהוֹלָ֑ל וּ/לְ/שִׂמְחָ֖ה מַה זֹּ֥ה עֹשָֽׂה | 2 | I said of laughter, {It is} mad: and of mirth, What doeth it? | لِلضَّحْكِ قُلْتُ: «مَجْنُونٌ» وَلِلْفَرَحِ: «مَاذَا يَفْعَلُ؟». | |
| תַּ֣רְתִּי בְ/לִבִּ֔/י לִ/מְשׁ֥וֹךְ בַּ/יַּ֖יִן אֶת בְּשָׂרִ֑/י וְ/לִבִּ֞/י נֹהֵ֤ג בַּֽ/חָכְמָה֙ וְ/לֶ/אֱחֹ֣ז בְּ/סִכְל֔וּת עַ֣ד אֲשֶׁר אֶרְאֶ֗ה אֵי זֶ֨ה ט֜וֹב לִ/בְנֵ֤י הָ/אָדָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר יַעֲשׂוּ֙ תַּ֣חַת הַ/שָּׁמַ֔יִם מִסְפַּ֖ר יְמֵ֥י חַיֵּי/הֶֽם | 3 | I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what {was} that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life. {to give...: Heb. to draw my flesh with wine} {all...: Heb. the number of the days of their life} | اِفْتَكَرْتُ فِي قَلْبِي أَنْ أُعَلِّلَ جَسَدِي بِٱلْخَمْرِ، وَقَلْبِي يَلْهَجُ بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ، وَأَنْ آخُذَ بِٱلْحَمَاقَةِ، حَتَّى أَرَى مَا هُوَ ٱلْخَيْرُ لِبَنِي ٱلْبَشَرِ حَتَّى يَفْعَلُوهُ تَحْتَ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ مُدَّةَ أَيَّامِ حَيَاتِهِمْ. | |
| הִגְדַּ֖לְתִּי מַעֲשָׂ֑/י בָּנִ֤יתִי לִ/י֙ בָּתִּ֔ים נָטַ֥עְתִּי לִ֖/י כְּרָמִֽים | 4 | I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards: | فَعَظَّمْتُ عَمَلِي: بَنَيْتُ لِنَفْسِي بُيُوتًا، غَرَسْتُ لِنَفْسِي كُرُومًا. | |
| עָשִׂ֣יתִי לִ֔/י גַּנּ֖וֹת וּ/פַרְדֵּסִ֑ים וְ/נָטַ֥עְתִּי בָ/הֶ֖ם עֵ֥ץ כָּל פֶּֽרִי | 5 | I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all {kind of} fruits: | عَمِلْتُ لِنَفْسِي جَنَّاتٍ وَفَرَادِيسَ، وَغَرَسْتُ فِيهَا أَشْجَارًا مِنْ كُلِّ نَوْعِ ثَمَرٍ. | |
| עָשִׂ֥יתִי לִ֖/י בְּרֵכ֣וֹת מָ֑יִם לְ/הַשְׁק֣וֹת מֵ/הֶ֔ם יַ֖עַר צוֹמֵ֥חַ עֵצִֽים | 6 | I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees: | عَمِلْتُ لِنَفْسِي بِرَكَ مِيَاهٍ لِتُسْقَى بِهَا ٱلْمَغَارِسُ ٱلْمُنْبِتَةُ ٱلشَّجَرَ. | |
| קָנִ֨יתִי֙ עֲבָדִ֣ים וּ/שְׁפָח֔וֹת וּ/בְנֵי בַ֖יִת הָ֣יָה לִ֑/י גַּ֣ם מִקְנֶה֩ בָקָ֨ר וָ/צֹ֤אן הַרְבֵּה֙ הָ֣יָה לִ֔/י מִ/כֹּ֛ל שֶֽׁ/הָי֥וּ לְ/פָנַ֖/י בִּ/ירוּשָׁלִָֽם | 7 | I got {me} servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me: {servants born...: Heb. sons of my house} | قَنَيْتُ عَبِيدًا وَجَوَارِيَ، وَكَانَ لِي وُلْدَانُ ٱلْبَيْتِ. وَكَانَتْ لِي أَيْضًا قِنْيَةُ بَقَرٍ وَغَنَمٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُوا فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ قَبْلِي. | |
| כָּנַ֤סְתִּי לִ/י֙ גַּם כֶּ֣סֶף וְ/זָהָ֔ב וּ/סְגֻלַּ֥ת מְלָכִ֖ים וְ/הַ/מְּדִינ֑וֹת עָשִׂ֨יתִי לִ֜/י שָׁרִ֣ים וְ/שָׁר֗וֹת וְ/תַעֲנוּגֹ֛ת בְּנֵ֥י הָ/אָדָ֖ם שִׁדָּ֥ה וְ/שִׁדּֽוֹת | 8 | I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, {as} musical instruments, and that of all sorts. {musical...: Heb. musical instrument and instruments} | جَمَعْتُ لِنَفْسِي أَيْضًا فِضَّةً وَذَهَبًا وَخُصُوصِيَّاتِ ٱلْمُلُوكِ وَٱلْبُلْدَانِ. ٱتَّخَذْتُ لِنَفْسِي مُغَنِّينَ وَمُغَنِّيَاتٍ وَتَنَعُّمَاتِ بَنِي ٱلْبَشَرِ، سَيِّدَةً وَسَيِّدَاتٍ. | |
| וְ/גָדַ֣לְתִּי וְ/הוֹסַ֔פְתִּי מִ/כֹּ֛ל שֶׁ/הָיָ֥ה לְ/פָנַ֖/י בִּ/ירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם אַ֥ף חָכְמָתִ֖/י עָ֥מְדָה לִּֽ/י | 9 | So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. | فَعَظُمْتُ وَٱزْدَدْتُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُوا قَبْلِي فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ، وَبَقِيَتْ أَيْضًا حِكْمَتِي مَعِي. | |
| וְ/כֹל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָֽׁאֲל֣וּ עֵינַ֔/י לֹ֥א אָצַ֖לְתִּי מֵ/הֶ֑ם לֹֽא מָנַ֨עְתִּי אֶת לִבִּ֜/י מִ/כָּל שִׂמְחָ֗ה כִּֽי לִבִּ֤/י שָׂמֵ֨חַ֙ מִ/כָּל עֲמָלִ֔/י וְ/זֶֽה הָיָ֥ה חֶלְקִ֖/י מִ/כָּל עֲמָלִֽ/י | 10 | And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour. | وَمَهْمَا ٱشْتَهَتْهُ عَيْنَايَ لَمْ أُمْسِكْهُ عَنْهُمَا. لَمْ أَمْنَعْ قَلْبِي مِنْ كُلِّ فَرَحٍ، لِأَنَّ قَلْبِي فَرِحَ بِكُلِّ تَعَبِي. وَهَذَا كَانَ نَصِيبِي مِنْ كُلِّ تَعَبِي. | |
| וּ/פָנִ֣יתִֽי אֲנִ֗י בְּ/כָל מַעֲשַׂ/י֙ שֶֽׁ/עָשׂ֣וּ יָדַ֔/י וּ/בֶֽ/עָמָ֖ל שֶׁ/עָמַ֣לְתִּי לַ/עֲשׂ֑וֹת וְ/הִנֵּ֨ה הַ/כֹּ֥ל הֶ֨בֶל֙ וּ/רְע֣וּת ר֔וּחַ וְ/אֵ֥ין יִתְר֖וֹן תַּ֥חַת הַ/שָּֽׁמֶשׁ | 11 | Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all {was} vanity and vexation of spirit, and {there was} no profit under the sun. | ثُمَّ ٱلْتَفَتُّ أَنَا إِلَى كُلِّ أَعْمَالِي ٱلَّتِي عَمِلَتْهَا يَدَايَ، وَإِلَى ٱلتَّعَبِ ٱلَّذِي تَعِبْتُهُ فِي عَمَلِهِ، فَإِذَا ٱلْكُلُّ بَاطِلٌ وَقَبْضُ ٱلرِّيحِ، وَلَا مَنْفَعَةَ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ. | |
| וּ/פָנִ֤יתִֽי אֲנִי֙ לִ/רְא֣וֹת חָכְמָ֔ה וְ/הוֹלֵל֖וֹת וְ/סִכְל֑וּת כִּ֣י מֶ֣ה הָ/אָדָ֗ם שֶׁ/יָּבוֹא֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י הַ/מֶּ֔לֶךְ אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר כְּבָ֖ר עָשֽׂוּ/הוּ | 12 | And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what {can} the man {do} that cometh after the king? {even} that which hath been already done. {even...: or, in those things which have been already done} | ثُمَّ ٱلْتَفَتُّ لِأَنْظُرَ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَٱلْحَمَاقَةَ وَٱلْجَهْلَ. فَمَا ٱلْإِنْسَانُ ٱلَّذِي يَأْتِي وَرَاءَ ٱلْمَلِكِ ٱلَّذِي قَدْ نَصَبُوهُ مُنْذُ زَمَانٍ؟ | |

| כִּי יֵ֣שׁ אָדָ֗ם שֶׁ/עֲמָל֛/וֹ בְּ/חָכְמָ֥ה וּ/בְ/דַ֖עַת וּ/בְ/כִשְׁר֑וֹן וּ/לְ/אָדָ֞ם שֶׁ/לֹּ֤א עָֽמַל בּ/וֹ֙ יִתְּנֶ֣/נּוּ חֶלְק֔/וֹ גַּם זֶ֥ה הֶ֖בֶל וְ/רָעָ֥ה רַבָּֽה | 21 | For there is a man whose labour {is} in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it {for} his portion. | כִּ֧י כָל יָמָ֣י/ו מַכְאֹבִ֗ים וָ/כַ֨עַס֙ עִנְיָנ֔/וֹ גַּם בַּ/לַּ֖יְלָה לֹא שָׁכַ֣ב לִבּ֑/וֹ גַּם זֶ֖ה הֶ֥בֶל הֽוּא | 23 | For all his days {are} sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. | מַה יִּתְרוֹן֙ הָֽ/עוֹשֶׂ֔ה בַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר ה֥וּא עָמֵֽל | 9 | What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth? | فَأَيُّ مَنْفَعَةٍ لِمَنْ يَتْعَبُ مِمَّا يَتْعَبُ بِهِ؟ | |
| רָאִ֣יתִי אֶת הָֽ/עִנְיָ֗ן אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֧ן אֱלֹהִ֛ים לִ/בְנֵ֥י הָ/אָדָ֖ם לַ/עֲנ֥וֹת בּֽ/וֹ | 10 | I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. | قَدْ رَأَيْتُ ٱلشُّغْلَ ٱلَّذِي أَعْطَاهُ ٱللهُ بَنِي ٱلْبَشَرِ لِيَشْتَغِلُوا بِهِ. | |
| אֶת הַ/כֹּ֥ל עָשָׂ֖ה יָפֶ֣ה בְ/עִתּ֑/וֹ גַּ֤ם אֶת הָ/עֹלָם֙ נָתַ֣ן בְּ/לִבָּ֔/ם מִ/בְּלִ֞י אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹא יִמְצָ֣א הָ/אָדָ֗ם אֶת הַֽ/מַּעֲשֶׂ֛ה אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂ֥ה הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים מֵ/רֹ֥אשׁ וְ/עַד סֽוֹף | 11 | He hath made every {thing} beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. | صَنَعَ ٱلْكُلَّ حَسَنًا فِي وَقْتِهِ، وَأَيْضًا جَعَلَ ٱلْأَبَدِيَّةَ فِي قَلْبِهِمِ، ٱلَّتِي بِلَاهَا لَا يُدْرِكُ ٱلْإِنْسَانُ ٱلْعَمَلَ ٱلَّذِي يَعْمَلُهُ ٱللهُ مِنَ ٱلْبِدَايَةِ إِلَى ٱلنِّهَايَةِ. | |
| יָדַ֕עְתִּי כִּ֛י אֵ֥ין ט֖וֹב בָּ֑/ם כִּ֣י אִם לִ/שְׂמ֔וֹחַ וְ/לַ/עֲשׂ֥וֹת ט֖וֹב בְּ/חַיָּֽי/ו | 12 | I know that {there is} no good in them, but for {a man} to rejoice, and to do good in his life. | عَرَفْتُ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ خَيْرٌ، إِلَّا أَنْ يَفْرَحُوا وَيَفْعَلُوا خَيْرًا فِي حَيَاتِهِمْ. | |
| וְ/גַ֤ם כָּל הָ/אָדָם֙ שֶׁ/יֹּאכַ֣ל וְ/שָׁתָ֔ה וְ/רָאָ֥ה ט֖וֹב בְּ/כָל עֲמָל֑/וֹ מַתַּ֥ת אֱלֹהִ֖ים הִֽיא | 13 | And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it {is} the gift of God. | وَأَيْضًا أَنْ يَأْكُلَ كُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ وَيَشْرَبَ وَيَرَى خَيْرًا مِنْ كُلِّ تَعَبِهِ، فَهُوَ عَطِيَّةُ ٱللهِ. | |
| יָדַ֗עְתִּי כִּ֠י כָּל אֲשֶׁ֨ר יַעֲשֶׂ֤ה הָ/אֱלֹהִים֙ ה֚וּא יִהְיֶ֣ה לְ/עוֹלָ֔ם עָלָי/ו֙ אֵ֣ין לְ/הוֹסִ֔יף וּ/מִמֶּ֖/נּוּ אֵ֣ין לִ/גְרֹ֑עַ וְ/הָ/אֱלֹהִ֣ים עָשָׂ֔ה שֶׁ/יִּֽרְא֖וּ מִ/לְּ/פָנָֽי/ו | 14 | I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth {it}, that {men} should fear before him. | قَدْ عَرَفْتُ أَنَّ كُلَّ مَا يَعْمَلُهُ ٱللهُ أَنَّهُ يَكُونُ إِلَى ٱلْأَبَدِ. لَا شَيْءَ يُزَادُ عَلَيْهِ، وَلَا شَيْءَ يُنْقَصُ مِنْهُ، وَأَنَّ ٱللهَ عَمِلَهُ حَتَّى يَخَافُوا أَمَامَهُ. | |

| וְ/ע֥וֹד רָאִ֖יתִי תַּ֣חַת הַ/שָּׁ֑מֶשׁ מְק֤וֹם הַ/מִּשְׁפָּט֙ שָׁ֣מָּ/ה הָ/רֶ֔שַׁע וּ/מְק֥וֹם הַ/צֶּ֖דֶק שָׁ֥מָּ/ה הָ/רָֽשַׁע | 16 | And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, {that} wickedness {was} there; and the place of righteousness, {that} iniquity {was} there. | وَأَيْضًا رَأَيْتُ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ: مَوْضِعَ ٱلْحَقِّ هُنَاكَ ٱلظُّلْمُ، وَمَوْضِعَ ٱلْعَدْلِ هُنَاكَ ٱلْجَوْرُ! | |

| ט֕וֹב מְלֹ֥א כַ֖ף נָ֑חַת מִ/מְּלֹ֥א חָפְנַ֛יִם עָמָ֖ל וּ/רְע֥וּת רֽוּחַ | 6 | Better {is} an handful {with} quietness, than both the hands full {with} travail and vexation of spirit. | حُفْنَةُ رَاحَةٍ خَيْرٌ مِنْ حُفْنَتَيْ تَعَبٍ وَقَبْضِ ٱلرِّيحِ. | |
| וְ/שַׁ֧בְתִּי אֲנִ֛י וָ/אֶרְאֶ֥ה הֶ֖בֶל תַּ֥חַת הַ/שָּֽׁמֶשׁ | 7 | Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun. | ثُمَّ عُدْتُ وَرَأَيْتُ بَاطِلًا تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ: | |
| יֵ֣שׁ אֶחָד֩ וְ/אֵ֨ין שֵׁנִ֜י גַּ֣ם בֵּ֧ן וָ/אָ֣ח אֵֽין ל֗/וֹ וְ/אֵ֥ין קֵץ֙ לְ/כָל עֲמָל֔/וֹ גַּם עיני/ו עֵינ֖/וֹ לֹא תִשְׂבַּ֣ע עֹ֑שֶׁר וּ/לְ/מִ֣י אֲנִ֣י עָמֵ֗ל וּ/מְחַסֵּ֤ר אֶת נַפְשִׁ/י֙ מִ/טּוֹבָ֔ה גַּם זֶ֥ה הֶ֛בֶל וְ/עִנְיַ֥ן רָ֖ע הֽוּא | 8 | There is one {alone}, and {there is} not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet {is there} no end of all his labour; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither {saith he}, For whom do I labour, and bereave my soul of good? | טוֹבִ֥ים הַ/שְּׁנַ֖יִם מִן הָ/אֶחָ֑ד אֲשֶׁ֧ר יֵשׁ לָ/הֶ֛ם שָׂכָ֥ר ט֖וֹב בַּ/עֲמָלָֽ/ם | 9 | Two {are} better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. | اِثْنَانِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ وَاحِدٍ، لِأَنَّ لَهُمَا أُجْرَةً لِتَعَبِهِمَا صَالِحَةً. | |
| כִּ֣י אִם יִפֹּ֔לוּ הָ/אֶחָ֖ד יָקִ֣ים אֶת חֲבֵר֑/וֹ וְ/אִ֣י/ל֗/וֹ הָֽ/אֶחָד֙ שֶׁ/יִּפּ֔וֹל וְ/אֵ֥ין שֵׁנִ֖י לַ/הֲקִימֽ/וֹ | 10 | For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him {that is} alone when he falleth; for {he hath} not another to help him up. | لِأَنَّهُ إِنْ وَقَعَ أَحَدُهُمَا يُقِيمُهُ رَفِيقُهُ. وَوَيْلٌ لِمَنْ هُوَ وَحْدَهُ إِنْ وَقَعَ، إِذْ لَيْسَ ثَانٍ لِيُقِيمَهُ. | |
| גַּ֛ם אִם יִשְׁכְּב֥וּ שְׁנַ֖יִם וְ/חַ֣ם לָ/הֶ֑ם וּ/לְ/אֶחָ֖ד אֵ֥יךְ יֵחָֽם | 11 | Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm {alone}? | أَيْضًا إِنِ ٱضْطَجَعَ ٱثْنَانِ يَكُونُ لَهُمَا دِفْءٌ، أَمَّا ٱلْوَحْدُ فَكَيْفَ يَدْفَأُ؟ | |
| וְ/אִֽם יִתְקְפ/וֹ֙ הָ/אֶחָ֔ד הַ/שְּׁנַ֖יִם יַעַמְד֣וּ נֶגְדּ֑/וֹ וְ/הַ/חוּט֙ הַֽ/מְשֻׁלָּ֔שׁ לֹ֥א בִ/מְהֵרָ֖ה יִנָּתֵֽק | 12 | And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. | وَإِنْ غَلَبَ أَحَدٌ عَلَى ٱلْوَاحِدِ يَقِفُ مُقَابَلَهُ ٱلِٱثْنَانِ، وَٱلْخَيْطُ ٱلْمَثْلُوثُ لَا يَنْقَطِعُ سَرِيعًا. | |
| ט֛וֹב יֶ֥לֶד מִסְכֵּ֖ן וְ/חָכָ֑ם מִ/מֶּ֤לֶךְ זָקֵן֙ וּ/כְסִ֔יל אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹא יָדַ֥ע לְ/הִזָּהֵ֖ר עֽוֹד | 13 | Better {is} a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished. {who...: Heb. who knoweth not to be admonished} | وَلَدٌ فَقِيرٌ وَحَكِيمٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ مَلِكٍ شَيْخٍ جَاهِلٍ، ٱلَّذِي لَا يَعْرِفُ أَنْ يُحَذَّرَ بَعْدُ. | |

| כִּ֣י בְ/רֹ֤ב חֲלֹמוֹת֙ וַ/הֲבָלִ֔ים וּ/דְבָרִ֖ים הַרְבֵּ֑ה כִּ֥י אֶת הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים יְרָֽא | 6 | Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it {was} an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? | لَا تَدَعْ فَمَكَ يَجْعَلُ جَسَدَكَ يُخْطِئُ، وَلَا تَقُلْ قُدَّامَ ٱلْمَلَاكِ: «إِنَّهُ سَهْوٌ». لِمَاذَا يَغْضَبُ ٱللهُ عَلَى قَوْلِكَ، وَيُفْسِدُ عَمَلَ يَدَيْكَ؟ | |
| אִם עֹ֣שֶׁק רָ֠שׁ וְ/גֵ֨זֶל מִשְׁפָּ֤ט וָ/צֶ֨דֶק֙ תִּרְאֶ֣ה בַ/מְּדִינָ֔ה אַל תִּתְמַ֖הּ עַל הַ/חֵ֑פֶץ כִּ֣י גָבֹ֜הַּ מֵ/עַ֤ל גָּבֹ֨הַ֙ שֹׁמֵ֔ר וּ/גְבֹהִ֖ים עֲלֵי/הֶֽם | 7 | For in the multitude of dreams and many words {there are} also {divers} vanities: but fear thou God. | لِأَنَّ ذَلِكَ مِنْ كَثْرَةِ ٱلْأَحْلَامِ وَٱلْأَبَاطِيلِ وَكَثْرَةِ ٱلْكَلَامِ. وَلَكِنِ ٱخْشَ ٱللهَ. | |

| כִּֽי בַ/הֶ֥בֶל בָּ֖א וּ/בַ/חֹ֣שֶׁךְ יֵלֵ֑ךְ וּ/בַ/חֹ֖שֶׁךְ שְׁמ֥/וֹ יְכֻסֶּֽה | 4 | For he cometh in with vanity, and departeth in darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness. | لِأَنَّهُ فِي ٱلْبَاطِلِ يَجِيءُ، وَفِي ٱلظَّلَامِ يَذْهَبُ، وَٱسْمُهُ يُغَطَّى بِٱلظَّلَامِ. | |
| גַּם שֶׁ֥מֶשׁ לֹא רָאָ֖ה וְ/לֹ֣א יָדָ֑ע נַ֥חַת לָ/זֶ֖ה מִ/זֶּֽה | 5 | Moreover he hath not seen the sun, nor known {any thing}: this hath more rest than the other. | وَأَيْضًا لَمْ يَرَ ٱلشَّمْسَ وَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ. فَهَذَا لَهُ رَاحَةٌ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَاكَ. | |
| וְ/אִלּ֣וּ חָיָ֗ה אֶ֤לֶף שָׁנִים֙ פַּעֲמַ֔יִם וְ/טוֹבָ֖ה לֹ֣א רָאָ֑ה הֲ/לֹ֛א אֶל מָק֥וֹם אֶחָ֖ד הַ/כֹּ֥ל הוֹלֵֽךְ | 6 | Yea, though he live a thousand years twice {told}, yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place? | وَإِنْ عَاشَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ مُضَاعَفَةً وَلَمْ يَرَ خَيْرًا، أَلَيْسَ إِلَى مَوْضِعٍ وَاحِدٍ يَذْهَبُ ٱلْجَمِيعُ؟ | |
| כָּל עֲמַ֥ל הָ/אָדָ֖ם לְ/פִ֑י/הוּ וְ/גַם הַ/נֶּ֖פֶשׁ לֹ֥א תִמָּלֵֽא | 7 | All the labour of man {is} for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled. {appetite: Heb. soul} | كُلُّ تَعَبِ ٱلْإِنْسَانِ لِفَمِهِ، وَمَعَ ذَلِكَ فَٱلنَّفْسُ لَا تَمْتَلِئُ. | |
| כִּ֛י מַה יּוֹתֵ֥ר לֶ/חָכָ֖ם מִֽן הַ/כְּסִ֑יל מַה לֶּ/עָנִ֣י יוֹדֵ֔עַ לַ/הֲלֹ֖ךְ נֶ֥גֶד הַ/חַיִּֽים | 8 | For what hath the wise more than the fool? what hath the poor, that knoweth to walk before the living? | لِأَنَّهُ مَاذَا يَبْقَى لِلْحَكِيمِ أَكْثَرَ مِنَ ٱلْجَاهِلِ؟ مَاذَا لِلْفَقِيرِ ٱلْعَارِفِ ٱلسُّلُوكَ أَمَامَ ٱلْأَحْيَاءِ؟ | |

| וּ/בְ/כֵ֡ן רָאִיתִי֩ רְשָׁעִ֨ים קְבֻרִ֜ים וָ/בָ֗אוּ וּ/מִ/מְּק֤וֹם קָדוֹשׁ֙ יְהַלֵּ֔כוּ וְ/יִֽשְׁתַּכְּח֥וּ בָ/עִ֖יר אֲשֶׁ֣ר כֵּן עָשׂ֑וּ גַּם זֶ֖ה הָֽבֶל | 10 | And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this {is} also vanity. | وَهَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ أَشْرَارًا يُدْفَنُونَ وَضُمُّوا، وَٱلَّذِينَ عَمِلُوا بِٱلْحَقِّ ذَهَبُوا مِنْ مَكَانِ ٱلْقُدْسِ وَنُسُوا فِي ٱلْمَدِينَةِ. هَذَا أَيْضًا بَاطِلٌ. | |
| אֲשֶׁר֙ אֵין נַעֲשָׂ֣ה פִתְגָ֔ם מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה הָ/רָעָ֖ה מְהֵרָ֑ה עַל כֵּ֡ן מָלֵ֞א לֵ֧ב בְּֽנֵי הָ/אָדָ֛ם בָּ/הֶ֖ם לַ/עֲשׂ֥וֹת רָֽע | 11 | Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. | لِأَنَّ ٱلْقَضَاءَ عَلَى ٱلْعَمَلِ ٱلرَّدِيءِ لَا يُجْرَى سَرِيعًا، فَلِذَلِكَ قَدِ ٱمْتَلَأَ قَلْبُ بَنِي ٱلْبَشَرِ فِيهِمْ لِفَعْلِ ٱلشَّرِّ. | |
| אֲשֶׁ֣ר חֹטֶ֗א עֹשֶׂ֥ה רָ֛ע מְאַ֖ת וּ/מַאֲרִ֣יךְ ל֑/וֹ כִּ֚י גַּם יוֹדֵ֣עַ אָ֔נִי אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִהְיֶה טּוֹב֙ לְ/יִרְאֵ֣י הָ/אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִֽירְא֖וּ מִ/לְּ/פָנָֽי/ו | 12 | Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his {days} be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: | اَلْخَاطِئُ وَإِنْ عَمِلَ شَرًّا مِئَةَ مَرَّةٍ وَطَالَتْ أَيَّامُهُ، إِلَّا أَنِّي أَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ يَكُونُ خَيْرٌ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ ٱللهَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ قُدَّامَهُ. | |
| וְ/טוֹב֙ לֹֽא יִהְיֶ֣ה לָֽ/רָשָׁ֔ע וְ/לֹֽא יַאֲרִ֥יךְ יָמִ֖ים כַּ/צֵּ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֛ר אֵינֶ֥/נּוּ יָרֵ֖א מִ/לִּ/פְנֵ֥י אֱלֹהִֽים | 13 | But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong {his} days, {which are} as a shadow; because he feareth not before God. | وَلَا يَكُونُ خَيْرٌ لِلشِّرِّيرِ، وَكَٱلظِّلِّ لَا يُطِيلُ أَيَّامَهُ لِأَنَّهُ لَا يَخْشَى قُدَّامَ ٱللهِ. | |
| יֶשׁ הֶבֶל֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נַעֲשָׂ֣ה עַל הָ/אָרֶץ֒ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֵ֣שׁ צַדִּיקִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר מַגִּ֤יעַ אֲלֵ/הֶם֙ כְּ/מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה הָ/רְשָׁעִ֔ים וְ/יֵ֣שׁ רְשָׁעִ֔ים שֶׁ/מַּגִּ֥יעַ אֲלֵ/הֶ֖ם כְּ/מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה הַ/צַּדִּיקִ֑ים אָמַ֕רְתִּי שֶׁ/גַּם זֶ֖ה הָֽבֶל | 14 | There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just {men}, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked {men}, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also {is} vanity. | يُوجَدُ بَاطِلٌ يُجْرَى عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ: أَنْ يُوجَدَ صِدِّيقُونَ يُصِيبُهُمْ مِثْلَ عَمَلِ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ، وَيُوجَدُ أَشْرَارٌ يُصِيبُهُمْ مِثْلَ عَمَلِ ٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ. فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ هَذَا أَيْضًا بَاطِلٌ. | |
| וְ/שִׁבַּ֤חְתִּֽי אֲנִי֙ אֶת הַ/שִּׂמְחָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר אֵֽין ט֤וֹב לָֽ/אָדָם֙ תַּ֣חַת הַ/שֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ כִּ֛י אִם לֶ/אֱכ֥וֹל וְ/לִ/שְׁתּ֖וֹת וְ/לִ/שְׂמ֑וֹחַ וְ/ה֞וּא יִלְוֶ֣/נּוּ בַ/עֲמָל֗/וֹ יְמֵ֥י חַיָּ֛י/ו אֲשֶׁר נָֽתַן ל֥/וֹ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים תַּ֥חַת הַ/שָּֽׁמֶשׁ | 15 | Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun. | فَمَدَحْتُ ٱلْفَرَحَ، لِأَنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِلْإِنْسَانِ خَيْرٌ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ، إِلَّا أَنْ يَأْكُلَ وَيَشْرَبَ وَيَفْرَحَ، وَهَذَا يَبْقَى لَهُ فِي تَعَبِهِ مُدَّةَ أَيَّامِ حَيَاتِهِ ٱلَّتِي يُعْطِيهِ ٱللهُ إِيَّاهَا تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ. | |
| כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֤תִּי אֶת לִבִּ/י֙ לָ/דַ֣עַת חָכְמָ֔ה וְ/לִ/רְאוֹת֙ אֶת הָ֣/עִנְיָ֔ן אֲשֶׁ֥ר נַעֲשָׂ֖ה עַל הָ/אָ֑רֶץ כִּ֣י גַ֤ם בַּ/יּוֹם֙ וּ/בַ/לַּ֔יְלָה שֵׁנָ֕ה בְּ/עֵינָ֖י/ו אֵינֶ֥/נּוּ רֹאֶֽה | 16 | When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also {there is that} neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:) | لَمَّا وَجَّهْتُ قَلْبِي لِأَعْرِفَ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ، وَأَنْظُرَ ٱلْعَمَلَ ٱلَّذِي عُمِلَ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ، وَأَنَّهُ نَهَارًا وَلَيْلًا لَا يَرَى ٱلنَّوْمَ بِعَيْنَيْهِ، | |

| הַ/כֹּ֞ל כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֣ר לַ/כֹּ֗ל מִקְרֶ֨ה אֶחָ֜ד לַ/צַּדִּ֤יק וְ/לָ/רָשָׁע֙ לַ/טּוֹב֙ וְ/לַ/טָּה֣וֹר וְ/לַ/טָּמֵ֔א וְ/לַ/זֹּבֵ֔חַ וְ/לַ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֵינֶ֣/נּוּ זֹבֵ֑חַ כַּ/טּוֹב֙ כַּֽ/חֹטֶ֔א הַ/נִּשְׁבָּ֕ע כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֖ר שְׁבוּעָ֥ה יָרֵֽא | 2 | All {things come} alike to all: {there is} one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as {is} the good, so {is} the sinner; {and} he that sweareth, as {he} that feareth an oath. | ٱلْكُلُّ عَلَى مَا لِلْكُلِّ. حَادِثَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ لِلصِّدِّيقِ وَلِلشِّرِّيرِ، لِلصَّالِحِ وَلِلطَّاهِرِ وَلِلنَّجِسِ، لِلذَّابِحِ وَلِلَّذِي لَا يَذْبَحُ، كَٱلصَّالِحِ ٱلْخَاطِئُ. ٱلْحَالِفُ كَٱلَّذِي يَخَافُ ٱلْحَلْفَ. | |
| זֶ֣ה רָ֗ע בְּ/כֹ֤ל אֲשֶֽׁר נַעֲשָׂה֙ תַּ֣חַת הַ/שֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ כִּֽי מִקְרֶ֥ה אֶחָ֖ד לַ/כֹּ֑ל וְ/גַ֣ם לֵ֣ב בְּֽנֵי הָ֠/אָדָם מָלֵא רָ֨ע וְ/הוֹלֵל֤וֹת בִּ/לְבָבָ/ם֙ בְּ/חַיֵּי/הֶ֔ם וְ/אַחֲרָ֖י/ו אֶל הַ/מֵּתִֽים | 3 | This {is} an evil among all {things} that are done under the sun, that {there is} one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness {is} in their heart while they live, and after that {they go} to the dead. | هَذَا أَشَرُّ كُلِّ مَا عُمِلَ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ: أَنَّ حَادِثَةً وَاحِدَةً لِلْجَمِيعِ. وَأَيْضًا قَلْبُ بَنِي ٱلْبَشَرِ مَلآنُ مِنَ ٱلشَّرِّ، وَٱلْحَمَاقَةُ فِي قَلْبِهِمْ وَهُمْ أَحْيَاءٌ، وَبَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَذْهَبُونَ إِلَى ٱلْأَمْوَاتِ. | |
| כִּי מִי֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יבחר יְחֻבַּ֔ר אֶ֥ל כָּל הַ/חַיִּ֖ים יֵ֣שׁ בִּטָּח֑וֹן כִּֽי לְ/כֶ֤לֶב חַי֙ ה֣וּא ט֔וֹב מִן הָ/אַרְיֵ֖ה הַ/מֵּֽת | 4 | For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. | لِأَنَّهُ مَنْ يُسْتَثْنَى؟ لِكُلِّ ٱلْأَحْيَاءِ يُوجَدُ رَجَاءٌ، فَإِنَّ ٱلْكَلْبَ ٱلْحَيَّ خَيْرٌ مِنَ ٱلْأَسَدِ ٱلْمَيْتِ. | |
| כִּ֧י הַֽ/חַיִּ֛ים יוֹדְעִ֖ים שֶׁ/יָּמֻ֑תוּ וְ/הַ/מֵּתִ֞ים אֵינָ֧/ם יוֹדְעִ֣ים מְא֗וּמָה וְ/אֵֽין ע֤וֹד לָ/הֶם֙ שָׂכָ֔ר כִּ֥י נִשְׁכַּ֖ח זִכְרָֽ/ם | 5 | For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. | لِأَنَّ ٱلْأَحْيَاءَ يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ سَيَمُوتُونَ، أَمَّا ٱلْمَوْتَى فَلَا يَعْلَمُونَ شَيْئًا، وَلَيْسَ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ بَعْدُ لِأَنَّ ذِكْرَهُمْ نُسِيَ. | |
| גַּ֣ם אַהֲבָתָ֧/ם גַּם שִׂנְאָתָ֛/ם גַּם קִנְאָתָ֖/ם כְּבָ֣ר אָבָ֑דָה וְ/חֵ֨לֶק אֵין לָ/הֶ֥ם עוֹד֙ לְ/עוֹלָ֔ם בְּ/כֹ֥ל אֲשֶֽׁר נַעֲשָׂ֖ה תַּ֥חַת הַ/שָּֽׁמֶשׁ | 6 | Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any {thing} that is done under the sun. | وَمَحَبَّتُهُمْ وَبُغْضَتُهُمْ وَحَسَدُهُمْ هَلَكَتْ مُنْذُ زَمَانٍ، وَلَا نَصِيبَ لَهُمْ بَعْدُ إِلَى ٱلْأَبَدِ، فِي كُلِّ مَا عُمِلَ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ. | |
| לֵ֣ךְ אֱכֹ֤ל בְּ/שִׂמְחָה֙ לַחְמֶ֔/ךָ וּֽ/שֲׁתֵ֥ה בְ/לֶב ט֖וֹב יֵינֶ֑/ךָ כִּ֣י כְבָ֔ר רָצָ֥ה הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶֽת מַעֲשֶֽׂי/ךָ | 7 | Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. | اِذْهَبْ كُلْ خُبْزَكَ بِفَرَحٍ، وَٱشْرَبْ خَمْرَكَ بِقَلْبٍ طَيِّبٍ، لِأَنَّ ٱللهَ مُنْذُ زَمَانٍ قَدْ رَضِيَ عَمَلَكَ. | |
| בְּ/כָל עֵ֕ת יִהְי֥וּ בְגָדֶ֖י/ךָ לְבָנִ֑ים וְ/שֶׁ֖מֶן עַל רֹאשְׁ/ךָ֥ אַל יֶחְסָֽר | 8 | Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. | لِتَكُنْ ثِيَابُكَ فِي كُلِّ حِينٍ بَيْضَاءَ، وَلَا يُعْوِزْ رَأْسَكَ ٱلدُّهْنُ. | |
| רְאֵ֨ה חַיִּ֜ים עִם אִשָּׁ֣ה אֲשֶׁר אָהַ֗בְתָּ כָּל יְמֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י הֶבְלֶ֔/ךָ אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָֽתַן לְ/ךָ֙ תַּ֣חַת הַ/שֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ כֹּ֖ל יְמֵ֣י הֶבְלֶ֑/ךָ כִּ֣י ה֤וּא חֶלְקְ/ךָ֙ בַּֽ/חַיִּ֔ים וּ/בַ/עֲמָ֣לְ/ךָ֔ אֲשֶׁר אַתָּ֥ה עָמֵ֖ל תַּ֥חַת הַ/שָּֽׁמֶשׁ | 9 | Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that {is} thy portion in {this} life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun. {Live...: Heb. | כֹּ֠ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר תִּמְצָ֧א יָֽדְ/ךָ֛ לַ/עֲשׂ֥וֹת בְּ/כֹחֲ/ךָ֖ עֲשֵׂ֑ה כִּי֩ אֵ֨ין מַעֲשֶׂ֤ה וְ/חֶשְׁבּוֹן֙ וְ/דַ֣עַת וְ/חָכְמָ֔ה בִּ/שְׁא֕וֹל אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַתָּ֖ה הֹלֵ֥ךְ שָֽׁמָּ/ה | 10 | Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do {it} with thy might; for {there is} no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. | كُلُّ مَا تَجِدُهُ يَدُكَ لِتَفْعَلَهُ فَٱفْعَلْهُ بِقُوَّتِكَ، لِأَنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ عَمَلٍ وَلَا ٱخْتِرَاعٍ وَلَا مَعْرِفَةٍ وَلَا حِكْمَةٍ فِي ٱلْهَاوِيَةِ ٱلَّتِي أَنْتَ ذَاهِبٌ إِلَيْهَا. | |
| שַׁ֜בְתִּי וְ/רָאֹ֣ה תַֽחַת הַ/שֶּׁ֗מֶשׁ כִּ֣י לֹא֩ לַ/קַּלִּ֨ים הַ/מֵּר֜וֹץ וְ/לֹ֧א לַ/גִּבּוֹרִ֣ים הַ/מִּלְחָמָ֗ה וְ֠/גַם לֹ֣א לַ/חֲכָמִ֥ים לֶ֨חֶם֙ וְ/גַ֨ם לֹ֤א לַ/נְּבֹנִים֙ עֹ֔שֶׁר וְ/גַ֛ם לֹ֥א לַ/יֹּדְעִ֖ים חֵ֑ן כִּי עֵ֥ת וָ/פֶ֖גַע יִקְרֶ֥ה אֶת כֻּלָּֽ/ם | 11 | I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race {is} not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. | فَعُدْتُ وَرَأَيْتُ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّمْسِ: أَنَّ ٱلسَّعْيَ لَيْسَ لِلْخَفِيفِ، وَلَا ٱلْحَرْبَ لِلْأَقْوِيَاءِ، وَلَا ٱلْخُبْزَ لِلْحُكَمَاءِ، وَلَا ٱلْغِنَى لِلْفُهَمَاءِ، وَلَا ٱلنِّعْمَةَ لِذَوِي ٱلْمَعْرِفَةِ، لِأَنَهُ ٱلْوَقْتُ وَٱلْعَرَضُ يُلَاقِيَانِهِمْ كَافَّةً. | |
| כִּ֡י גַּם֩ לֹֽא יֵדַ֨ע הָ/אָדָ֜ם אֶת עִתּ֗/וֹ כַּ/דָּגִים֙ שֶׁ/נֶּֽאֱחָזִים֙ בִּ/מְצוֹדָ֣ה רָעָ֔ה וְ/כַ֨/צִּפֳּרִ֔ים הָ/אֲחֻז֖וֹת בַּ/פָּ֑ח כָּ/הֵ֗ם יֽוּקָשִׁים֙ בְּנֵ֣י הָֽ/אָדָ֔ם לְ/עֵ֣ת רָעָ֔ה כְּ/שֶׁ/תִּפּ֥וֹל עֲלֵי/הֶ֖ם פִּתְאֹֽם | 12 | For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so {are} the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them. | لِأَنَّ ٱلْإِنْسَانَ أَيْضًا لَا يَعْرِفُ وَقْتَهُ. كَٱلْأَسْمَاكِ ٱلَّتِي تُؤْخَذُ بِشَبَكَةٍ مُهْلِكَةٍ، وَكَالْعَصَافِيرِ ٱلَّتِي تُؤْخَذُ بِٱلشَّرَكِ، كَذَلِكَ تُقْتَنَصُ بَنُو ٱلْبَشَرِ فِي وَقْتِ شَرٍّ، إِذْ يَقَعُ عَلَيْهِمْ بَغْتَةً. | |

| שְׂמַ֧ח בָּח֣וּר בְּ/יַלְדוּתֶ֗י/ךָ וִֽ/יטִֽיבְ/ךָ֤ לִבְּ/ךָ֙ בִּ/ימֵ֣י בְחוּרוֹתֶ֔/ךָ וְ/הַלֵּךְ֙ בְּ/דַרְכֵ֣י לִבְּ/ךָ֔ וּ/בְ/מַרְאֵ֖י עֵינֶ֑י/ךָ וְ/דָ֕ע כִּ֧י עַל כָּל אֵ֛לֶּה יְבִֽיאֲ/ךָ֥ הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים בַּ/מִּשְׁפָּֽט | 9 | Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these {things} God will bring thee into judgment. | اِفْرَحْ أَيُّهَا ٱلشَّابُّ في حَدَاثَتِكَ، وَلْيَسُرَّكَ قَلْبُكَ فِي أَيَّامِ شَبَابِكَ، وَٱسْلُكْ فِي طُرُقِ قَلْبِكَ وَبِمَرْأَى عَيْنَيْكَ، وَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ عَلَى هَذِهِ ٱلْأُمُورِ كُلِّهَا يَأْتِي بِكَ ٱللهُ إِلَى ٱلدَّيْنُونَةِ. | |
| וְ/הָסֵ֥ר כַּ֨עַס֙ מִ/לִּבֶּ֔/ךָ וְ/הַעֲבֵ֥ר רָעָ֖ה מִ/בְּשָׂרֶ֑/ךָ כִּֽי הַ/יַּלְד֥וּת וְ/הַֽ/שַּׁחֲר֖וּת הָֽבֶל | 10 | Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth {are} vanity. {sorrow: or, anger} | فَٱنْزِعِ ٱلْغَمَّ مِنْ قَلْبِكَ، وَأَبْعِدِ ٱلشَّرَّ عَنْ لَحْمِكَ، لِأَنَّ ٱلْحَدَاثَةَ وَٱلشَّبَابَ بَاطِلَانِ. |

| וּ/זְכֹר֙ אֶת בּ֣וֹרְאֶ֔י/ךָ בִּ/ימֵ֖י בְּחוּרֹתֶ֑י/ךָ עַ֣ד אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹא יָבֹ֨אוּ֙ יְמֵ֣י הָֽ/רָעָ֔ה וְ/הִגִּ֣יעוּ שָׁנִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֹּאמַ֔ר אֵֽין לִ֥/י בָ/הֶ֖ם חֵֽפֶץ | 1 | Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; | فَٱذْكُرْ خَالِقَكَ فِي أَيَّامِ شَبَابِكَ، قَبْلَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَ أَيَّامُ ٱلشَّرِّ أَوْ تَجِيءَ ٱلسِّنُونَ إِذْ تَقُولُ: «لَيْسَ لِي فِيهَا سُرُورٌ». | |
| עַ֠ד אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹֽא תֶחְשַׁ֤ךְ הַ/שֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ֙ וְ/הָ/א֔וֹר וְ/הַ/יָּרֵ֖חַ וְ/הַ/כּוֹכָבִ֑ים וְ/שָׁ֥בוּ הֶ/עָבִ֖ים אַחַ֥ר הַ/גָּֽשֶׁם | 2 | While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain: | قَبْلَ مَا تَظْلُمُ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلنُّورُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ وَٱلنُّجُومُ، وَتَرْجِعُ ٱلسُّحُبُ بَعْدَ ٱلْمَطَرِ. | |
| בַּ/יּ֗וֹם שֶׁ/יָּזֻ֨עוּ֙ שֹׁמְרֵ֣י הַ/בַּ֔יִת וְ/הִֽתְעַוְּת֖וּ אַנְשֵׁ֣י הֶ/חָ֑יִל וּ/בָטְל֤וּ הַ/טֹּֽחֲנוֹת֙ כִּ֣י מִעֵ֔טוּ וְ/חָשְׁכ֥וּ הָ/רֹא֖וֹת בָּ/אֲרֻבּֽוֹת | 3 | In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened, {the grinders...: or, the grinders fail, because they grind little} | فِي يَوْمٍ يَتَزَعْزَعُ فِيهِ حَفَظَةُ ٱلْبَيْتِ، وَتَتَلَوَّى رِجَالُ ٱلْقُوَّةِ، وَتَبْطُلُ ٱلطَّوَاحِنُ لِأَنَّهَا قَلَّتْ، وَتُظْلِمُ ٱلنَّوَاظِرُ مِنَ ٱلشَّبَابِيكِ. | |
| וְ/סֻגְּר֤וּ דְלָתַ֨יִם֙ בַּ/שּׁ֔וּק בִּ/שְׁפַ֖ל ק֣וֹל הַֽ/טַּחֲנָ֑ה וְ/יָקוּם֙ לְ/ק֣וֹל הַ/צִּפּ֔וֹר וְ/יִשַּׁ֖חוּ כָּל בְּנ֥וֹת הַ/שִּֽׁיר | 4 | And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low; | وَتُغْلَقُ ٱلْأَبْوَابُ فِي ٱلسُّوقِ. حِينَ يَنْخَفِضُ صَوْتُ ٱلْمِطْحَنَةِ، وَيَقُومُ لِصَوْتِ ٱلْعُصْفُورِ، وَتُحَطُّ كُلُّ بَنَاتِ ٱلْغِنَاءِ. | |
| גַּ֣ם מִ/גָּבֹ֤הַּ יִרָ֨אוּ֙ וְ/חַתְחַתִּ֣ים בַּ/דֶּ֔רֶךְ וְ/יָנֵ֤אץ הַ/שָּׁקֵד֙ וְ/יִסְתַּבֵּ֣ל הֶֽ/חָגָ֔ב וְ/תָפֵ֖ר הָֽ/אֲבִיּוֹנָ֑ה כִּֽי הֹלֵ֤ךְ הָ/אָדָם֙ אֶל בֵּ֣ית עוֹלָמ֔/וֹ וְ/סָבְב֥וּ בָ/שּׁ֖וּק הַ/סֹּפְדִֽים | 5 | Also {when} they shall be afraid of {that which is} high, and fears {shall be} in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets: | وَأَيْضًا يَخَافُونَ مِنَ ٱلْعَالِي، وَفِي ٱلطَّرِيقِ أَهْوَالٌ، وَٱللَّوْزُ يُزْهِرُ، وَٱلْجُنْدُبُ يُسْتَثْقَلُ، وَٱلشَّهْوَةُ تَبْطُلُ. لِأَنَّ ٱلْإِنْسَانَ ذَاهِبٌ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ ٱلْأَبَدِيِّ، وَٱلنَّادِبُونَ يَطُوفُونَ فِي ٱلسُّوقِ. | |
| עַ֣ד אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא ירחק יֵרָתֵק֙ חֶ֣בֶל הַ/כֶּ֔סֶף וְ/תָרֻ֖ץ גֻּלַּ֣ת הַ/זָּהָ֑ב וְ/תִשָּׁ֤בֶר כַּד֙ עַל הַ/מַּבּ֔וּעַ וְ/נָרֹ֥ץ הַ/גַּלְגַּ֖ל אֶל הַ/בּֽוֹר | 6 | Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. | قَبْلَ مَا يَنْفَصِمُ حَبْلُ ٱلْفِضَّةِ، أَوْ يَنْسَحِقُ كُوزُ ٱلذَّهَبِ، أَوْ تَنْكَسِرُ ٱلْجَرَّةُ عَلَى ٱلْعَيْنِ، أَوْ تَنْقَصِفُ ٱلْبَكَرَةُ عِنْدَ ٱلْبِئْرِ. | |
| וְ/יָשֹׁ֧ב הֶ/עָפָ֛ר עַל הָ/אָ֖רֶץ כְּ/שֶׁ/הָיָ֑ה וְ/הָ/ר֣וּחַ תָּשׁ֔וּב אֶל הָ/אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר נְתָנָֽ/הּ | 7 | Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. | فَيَرْجِعُ ٱلتُّرَابُ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمَا كَانَ، وَتَرْجِعُ ٱلرُّوحُ إِلَى ٱللهِ ٱلَّذِي أَعْطَاهَا. | |
| הֲבֵ֧ל הֲבָלִ֛ים אָמַ֥ר הַ/קּוֹהֶ֖לֶת הַ/כֹּ֥ל הָֽבֶל | 8 | Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all {is} vanity. | بَاطِلُ ٱلْأَبَاطِيلِ، قَالَ ٱلْجَامِعَةُ: ٱلْكُلُّ بَاطِلٌ. | |
| וְ/יֹתֵ֕ר שֶׁ/הָיָ֥ה קֹהֶ֖לֶת חָכָ֑ם ע֗וֹד לִמַּד דַּ֨עַת֙ אֶת הָ/עָ֔ם וְ/אִזֵּ֣ן וְ/חִקֵּ֔ר תִּקֵּ֖ן מְשָׁלִ֥ים הַרְבֵּֽה | 9 | And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, {and} set in order many proverbs. {moreover...: or, the more wise the preacher was, etc} | بَقِيَ أَنَّ ٱلْجَامِعَةَ كَانَ حَكِيمًا، وَأَيْضًا عَلَّمَ ٱلشَّعْبَ عِلْمًا، وَوَزَنَ وَبَحَثَ وَأَتْقَنَ أَمْثَالًا كَثِيرَةً. | |
| בִּקֵּ֣שׁ קֹהֶ֔לֶת לִ/מְצֹ֖א דִּבְרֵי חֵ֑פֶץ וְ/כָת֥וּב יֹ֖שֶׁר דִּבְרֵ֥י אֱמֶֽת | 10 | The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and {that which was} written {was} upright, {even} words of truth. {acceptable...: Heb. words of delight} | اَلْجَامِعَةُ طَلَبَ أَنْ يَجِدَ كَلِمَاتٍ مُسِرَّةً مَكْتُوبَةً بِٱلِٱسْتِقَامَةِ، كَلِمَاتِ حَقٍّ. | |
| דִּבְרֵ֤י חֲכָמִים֙ כַּ/דָּ֣רְבֹנ֔וֹת וּֽ/כְ/מַשְׂמְר֥וֹת נְטוּעִ֖ים בַּעֲלֵ֣י אֲסֻפּ֑וֹת נִתְּנ֖וּ מֵ/רֹעֶ֥ה אֶחָֽד | 11 | The words of the wise {are} as goads, and as nails fastened {by} the masters of assemblies, {which} are given from one shepherd. | كَلَامُ ٱلْحُكَمَاءِ كَٱلْمَنَاسِيسِ، وَكَأَوْتَادٍ مُنْغَرِزَةٍ، أَرْبَابُ ٱلْجَمَاعَاتِ، قَدْ أُعْطِيَتْ مِنْ رَاعٍ وَاحِدٍ. | |
| וְ/יֹתֵ֥ר מֵ/הֵ֖מָּה בְּנִ֣/י הִזָּהֵ֑ר עֲשׂ֨וֹת סְפָרִ֤ים הַרְבֵּה֙ אֵ֣ין קֵ֔ץ וְ/לַ֥הַג הַרְבֵּ֖ה יְגִעַ֥ת בָּשָֽׂר | 12 | And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books {there is} no end; and much study {is} a weariness of the flesh. {study: or, reading} | وَبَقِيَ، فَمِنْ هَذَا يَاٱبْنِي تَحَذَّرْ: لِعَمَلِ كُتُبٍ كَثِيرَةٍ لَا نِهَايَةَ، وَٱلدَّرْسُ ٱلْكَثِيرُ تَعَبٌ لِلْجَسَدِ. | |
| ס֥וֹף דָּבָ֖ר הַ/כֹּ֣ל נִשְׁמָ֑ע אֶת הָ/אֱלֹהִ֤ים יְרָא֙ וְ/אֶת מִצְוֺתָ֣י/ו שְׁמ֔וֹר כִּי זֶ֖ה כָּל הָ/אָדָֽם | 13 | Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this {is} the whole {duty} of man. {Let...: or, The end of the matter, even all that hath been heard, is} | فَلْنَسْمَعْ خِتَامَ ٱلْأَمْرِ كُلِّهِ: ٱتَّقِ ٱللهَ وَٱحْفَظْ وَصَايَاهُ، لِأَنَّ هَذَا هُوَ ٱلْإِنْسَانُ كُلُّهُ. | |
| כִּ֤י אֶת כָּל מַֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה הָ/אֱלֹהִ֛ים יָבִ֥א בְ/מִשְׁפָּ֖ט עַ֣ל כָּל נֶעְלָ֑ם אִם ט֖וֹב וְ/אִם רָֽע | 14 | For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether {it be} good, or whether {it be} evil. | لِأَنَّ ٱللهَ يُحْضِرُ كُلَّ عَمَلٍ إِلَى ٱلدَّيْنُونَةِ، عَلَى كُلِّ خَفِيٍّ، إِنْ كَانَ خَيْرًا أَوْ شَرًّا. |
